This secluded haven might not be a hit with motorhome and 5th wheel enthusiasts due to the absence of electricity and the presence of pit toilets. But for those seeking an authentic nature getaway, it's an absolute delight.
Picture this: spacious, well-shaded campsites adorned with majestic trees that offer just the right amount of separation. It's a refreshing break from the usual camping scene. While the lack of modern amenities might raise some eyebrows, what truly shines here is the rustic charm that envelopes you.
Now, let's talk about those coveted lakeside sites, particularly numbers 72 and its neighboring sites. Perched about 100 feet away from the lake up on a bluff, they offer panoramic lake views that make up for any shortcomings in facilities. Sure, this loop might sport just one slightly pungent toilet, and during my visit, the pump wasn't operational. But oh, that serene view of the lake is a balm for the soul.
For those with a love for adventure, these lakeside spots have easy access to the main trail, making it a breeze to explore the beauty of the surroundings. Plus, a short stroll leads you to the boat ramp and the fishing pier by the lake's edge – a paradise for anglers and water enthusiasts alike.
If you're yearning for extra seclusion, look no further than sites 33 and 34. Tucked away like your very own cul-de-sac, they offer a level of privacy that feels like a comforting embrace from nature itself.
In summary, my experience at Deep Lake Campground was a rustic retreat that brought me closer to the heart of nature. 🌳 Despite the absence of luxuries, the serene lakeside view and the tranquility of the surroundings more than compensated. So, if you're ready to disconnect and bask in the arms of nature, Deep Lake Campground might just become your new favorite...
Read moreI wanted to like this place, i had a good enough time, but i won't be back. The staff was great, helpful and nice. She let us change our campsight (a lot of the campsites are crammed in next to each other). We chose one that made us feel a little more secluded but didn't actually provide much privacy once people started showing up. Come friday night, there were lots of kids and it was pretty loud. Music started blasting at 6 am on Saturday along with various other loud scrappings and bangs. We were here may 30 - June 1, and this place is infested with spongey moth catapiller. They are everywhere! A terribly invasive species that is destroying the environment. If you go here, make sure you don't take any of these home with you. Each female can lay up to 1000 eggs. Please stop the spread! The hiking trails are great. There's a 12 mile loop mountain biking trail. We took a short cut to make it a 6 mile loop. The only downfall was the catapillers dropping out of the trees on your head, or hanging in the air on a thread or crawling up your legs. This place is probably much better in the fall, or if you wanted to use the boat launch. It was just to open and populated for my idea of rustic camping, and the catapillers were something else. Honestly, I'm surprised we stuck it out. We drove an hour and a half to get here and almost threw in the towel when we realized we didn't have our tent polls. Thankfully, there's a Walmart about 15 minutes away where we were able to purchase an emergency tent, a bug fogger( didnt really help), and a box of overpriced firewood. On the way back we found a firewood stand that was much more...
Read more"Stocked trout lake." Catching a trout in this lake is like finding your life long spouse on tinder; it ain't gonna happen. DNR will tell you the same thing. Pan fishing is alright but not my cup of tea. There's a couple decent campsites but most are pretty close to one another. On a Saturday night every single campsite within a stone throw away had campfires out and were tucked in as soon as the sun went past the trees. Being professional campers and knowing this is the normal time for smores and stories around the fire, we soon realized this is not the campground for that as a noise complaint was called in right away. We quickly fought fire with fire and proceeded to blast kid rock songs to fix the issue. Luckily the surrounding campers either caught on or were stricken with fear because no more noise complaints were called. Id go else where to camp in the area where you can have fun and even crack a cold one. Only reason this place doesn't get 1 star is because the DNR officer was cool about the whole situation. The scenery on the lake is...
