Starlight Boutique Hotel & Private Resort — Hotel in Yucca Valley

We had no clue where would we be landing... We arrived right when sunset was down... the light was surreal... As soon as we made a left to quite the road, the journey begun! Coyotes all over the place, rabbits and even a Bob Cat welcomed us... We thought for a second we were lost and there it is: STARTLIGHT BOUTIQUE HOTEL in the middle of nowhere! Chris and Benoît were waiting for us. The sweetest French couple... Later we will know about their amazing stories. We came here as a complete birthday surprise for my wife, my brother and future sister in law. We got the master bedroom with the jacuzzi inside and an absolute stunning shower that my 8 yo son called the GROTTO! The view in the morning was insane... 360º all around, breakfast was ready... we could not wait for adventures to start. Chris planned our day, we brought our ebike... to go all the way to PIONEERTOWN and visit the main street from the wild wild west! A couple shots at the saloon and came back right in time for a Jacuzzi for sunset! Benoit is master jedi at "sabrer le Champagne" so is Chris! We got a full celebration with cork flying in da house just like Napoleon used to do it! So yeaaaah... you can plan your stay and go blind... I won't spoil the show at night... everything that needed to be said was in the title of our review! We will be back and will bring more guests to see their reaction... The Starlight is run by a lovely, friendly couple from France who unfortunately seem to have lost whatever enthusiasm they may have at one time had for running a hotel. |Most disappointing: when we booked, we were told that breakfast was included, and in the guestbook located at the entrance to the hotel, it states that breakfast is included, ‘free.’ However, when we inquired, we were told that continental breakfast was $23 per person. There wasn’t even coffee available, not in the room and not in the public area. This was particularly annoying because the closest place to get coffee was twenty minutes out of our way. |The pool was full of leaves and the hot tub was closed, and no one offered to open it for us. There was no refrigerator in the room and as a result we had to throw out some food we’d been carrying in a cooler. Sooooo disappointed with the host’s shortsightedness ….they kept our $500 security deposit despite there being no damage to property and we left it in pristine condition. He gave vague incorrect logic of ‘you were more people than you said you’d be; you brought kids but never told us’….both these statements are a 100% false….he knew we were taking kids, we were exactly the number of people we told him we’d be…he just got greedy! It’s sad!!
