The good, the bad, and the ugly. For informational purposes only; if you like what you read, stay here. if you don't like what you read stay away.
The good: Clean, well kept park with mixture of around 131 park models and 143 RV sites (with RV being mixture of long-term class A, others, and Thousand Trails). Pool was closed for repairs (good time to do it as it was in the 30's). Nice clubhouse with dart boards (bring your own darts), pool tables, horse shoes, shuffleboard. Not much else for kids. It appears they do bingo.
The bad: Train nearby, prepare to hear the whistle at ALL hours. Trash pick-up curbside is two days a week. prepare to see piles of trash on the curb for all other days. Why? because the park has three (yes, three (3)) trash cans behind office for disposal. as you can imagine, by the end of the weekend we stayed trash was all over the place. Not just bags, but appliances, and furniture. There is a "sister" property behind a locked gate next door. According to snowbirds here, many of those residents come over on their golf carts and fill the pool (along with families car-pooling into the park from town in the summertime), making it crowded.
The ugly: One bathroom with one shower for 143 RV sites. (one inside clubhouse which is locked after hours). Bathroom has no code lock on it so be prepared to have door locked in the morning while homeless guy on motorcycle takes his shower and warms up from weather in the 30's (yes, this happened). While most of the park is very clean and well kept, AVOID THE NORTHEAST CORNER (which is evidently where they like to stick the THOUSAND TRAILS members). There are a couple of sites which resemble third-world nations with the amount of trash and clothes over-spilling unto others sites. a simple search on the internet or social media will reveal pictures of this and the fact that this appears to be a long-term issue that management refuses to address.
**I see many complaints about children. This is NOT a 55+ park so there will be kids. I have kids. When we arrived between 6:00 and 7:00 and I let my kids "run around" in the street around our site on their bikes while I set up. I had others tell them to be quieter and asked where they were staying. If you do not want to see or hear kids in the early evening, I suggest you stay / buy in a 55+ park. It's that simple.
** Also, no management or employees over the weekend as...

Wow! What a transformation! They have really cleaned this place up. There are far fewer people with poor attitudes, the seasonal/annual tendency of spreading out beyond their sites with unsightly messes has been nipped in the bud, and they have added new premium sites with a full concrete pad. Though, I am not sure those sites are available to Thousand Trails members, we haven't seen them available when booking.
Aside from the trains, it is a peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle, though that is growing towards the park with huge developments going in, and a lot of land for sale.
The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful at every turn. We ordered a package from our mail service that was supposed to be delivered right to the site, but we are guessing it required a signature which we didn't know, so we weren't home. The office accepted it for us and it was delivered to our doorstep.
We are looking forward to returning in the future! This is a lovely little park, but it could be an amazing park. The amenities are quite nice and include a large pool with lap lanes, tennis/pickle ball, horseshoes, shuffle board, large and clean laundry facilities that use an app rather than coins, a nice rec hall, and many planned activities in the winter months. The staff are very responsive and pleasant to interact with.
My problem is that they do not enforce their site standards for their longer-term guests. This is our third or fourth time staying here, and every time, it was the long-term folks that made our visits uncomfortable.
People have toys, chairs, and what appears to be garbage strewn about their sites. When we got here, we discovered our neighbor was stealing electricity. See, long-term folks have to pay for theirs, but if you plug it into a transient site viola, free lights. I give him an A for effort, though. He had an extension cord running to his box to power his ACs, which is clever because I am sure the park would notice if he had no electricity usage while living here. My question is this: Once you realize the park is turning a blind eye to blatant theft from themselves, how is a customer to feel safe and...
Read moreWe stayed at Forest Lake RV park for the month of January 2022 in a 36 ft fifth wheel RV. The place is well cared for an clean. Appreciated the twice per week garbage pick up at the end of the lot and quick access to a propane fill. The pool was clean and large but we only used it one then the weather got too cold to use it further. The dog park is a nice size and having access to the adjacent property dog park which is much larger was a bonus. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Proximity to local grocery shopping was very good as well. Everyone in the rv park was friendly and a very relaxed atmosphere. One suggestion would be letting the rv residents know in advance through a community internet site (or other digital means) when there is to be an interruption of service. The water mains were turned off for a day then a boil water advisory was in place for two days…so no advance notice…only a handwritten note on the front bulletin board at the front office….if you did not see it, the lack of running water and then having to boil water for two days was quite inconvenient. Aside from that occurrence….it is a great RV resort and we would...
