We have been coming there to camp for many years and have loved it every time but this time it was terrible the smaller bathroom was nasty and stayed that way the toilets stayed clogged the whole time. when we stayed there the Many times we did before the pool was included in our stay we never had to pay to get into the pool but now you have to pay $4 per person per day to swim and they didn't tell us that we had to buy our arm bands to swim at the ranger station at the front of the park where you first come in so when we walked to the pool from our camper with our money they wouldnt let us in and we didn't have a way to get to the ranger station it was me and two kids and they would have never made the walk its a long walk to the station. All you used to do was pay at the pool the lifeguard and the ranger that was there at the time was extremely rude and not willing to help us at all even when we explained that no one told us her response was "sometimes they tell you sometimes they dont". well in my opinion that isnt how things should be done there were alot of angry people that I talked to outside the pool while I was figuring out what to do now that we couldnt go swimming and they had alot of valid complaints as well thank goodness we have our own kayaks because the canoe rentals and bait shop and restaurant are all closed which we didn't bring bait so we couldn't go fishing so now im left wondering what would there be to do there anymore except camp and hike we loved going there with our kids because there were a lot of activities to do with them they always had different things going on like movies and campfires and the fort tour and there was a ride thru the park every Saturday night now they don't have any of it take away all of that and all you have is very disappointed children so they should have left things the way they were because it was an awesome place place to camp and I would tell everyone to go there. now I would tell no one. I will Leave this on one positive note there is a ranger there by the name of calab he was really funny and nice and very helpful it was refreshing because he was...

Read moreThe state park itself is beautiful. That being said, the campground... Oh Lord the campground. The actual space provided for camping is ludicrously small - regardless of what site you are on. The price in no way justifies what you get. And there is zero seclusion - the only privacy you are afforded comes from what your tent/camper provides. You are essentially camping in an unpaved parking lot. There are restroom and shower facilities, however their condition would not seem out of place in a Friday the 13th film. You are as likely to be cornered by a raccoon as you are to successfully complete a bowel movement.
If you have kids, there is a playground. Make sure your children have their shots up to date before allowing them to use it as it may have been there before the park existed. Also, if you don't have kids, there's a playground. It's in the middle of everything and, as there is no seclusion, you will hear absolutely every bit of screaming.
There is a golf cart tour of the park offered, so...
