River Palm is not really a resort, not in the terms I think of a resort with lots of ammenities. This park has a few ammenities...a heated pool, a rec room, pool and ping-pong table, small library, corn-hole, walking trail, shuffleboard, horse shoes, laundry. It is in a nice, quiet, country location. There are sites for RVs as well as quite a few park models. There is a pond with ducks, a field with two horses and some cattle. At the end of the street there are two small parks, Dead River and Hillsborough State Park. These parks are accessible by bike or foot and there are plenty of trails to enjoy. Along the trails you can see birds, alligators, and wild hogs. There are some wonderful people at River Palm, both staff and residents. The location is convenient to Tampa and Zephyrhills, as well as Plant City and the gulf coast. We stayed here for a couple of months in a motorhome and really enjoyed our stay. There are a few issues, hence pnly three stars....the laundry room dryers are very old, constantly breaking and need to be replaced...there are not enough of them either. The circuit breakers trip often as the park electrical wiring is old 30 amp. The pool heater wasn't working for a long time. There is...
Read moreFriendly, accommodating and neat as a pin, River Palm RV Resort is just a bit off the beaten track -- 10 minutes from Zephyrhills' supermarkets, restaurants, etc, and 20 from Tampa's -- and the peace and quiet that follow are among the resort's many advantages. The helpful staff is another, and the generous size and spacing of the sites are a couple more. I happen to like walking and Hillsborough River and Dead River parks have miles of trails accessible just a quarter-mile down the road. The place is wonderfully located by dozens of square miles of undeveloped land, protected in the 1930s to safeguard Tampa from floods. Lots of wildlife to be seen along the trails and in the Hillsborough River (canoe rentals nearby in the parks). Sand hill cranes frequently roam the grounds (please don't feed them though -- it messes up their migration instincts). After a walk or bike ride a dip in the big, beautiful, heated pool feels wonderful. All told, River Palm is a great place for either a short or protracted stay. I wish I could...
Read moreWe traveled from Missouri to Florida without having any type of reservation for a RV resort and every one that we checked on had no room for us. The first night arriving in Largo, Florida, we were allowed to spend the night on the parking lot of a Cracker Barrel, which we were most appreciative! Traveling all the way down to Port Charlotte, we finally found an RV resort that could handle our big 5th Wheel and us, but we had to travel back up to Thonotosassa. It was River Palm RV resort. Unfortunately, they had us pulling in with our 42 foot 5th Wheel into a spot between a big tree with low branches and a 5 foot tree stump, otherwise we would have given this place 5 stars instead of 4. The people are friendly and there's a lot of activities to join if that's your style. The resort isn't far from shopping or sight seeing and it's quiet and pet friendly. We hope to return to stay longer this coming November through April but possibly in a different location in...
