My significant other and I were wrapping up a 3 week trek through your great country Uruguay, and decided at the last minute to change our reservations in Atlantida to check out Jose Ignacio which we had heard about. Serendipitously, we were ultimately steered to La Atrevida. It could not have been more perfect. Not only is Andrea and Mario on the same psychic page as we are, we actually had incredible commonalities... Andrea had recently been to a retreat in my very small NY town, Mario and my significant other had both done trans-Atlantic sailboat adventures, even the one other couple there (also from NY) grew up in our even-SMALLER town (think one block for ‘downtown’) and we know his cousin! A true Celestine event. ||While the weather wasn’t the best, very windy and a bit chilly, we could not have planned a better ending to our magical journey across eastern Uruguay. Next time we will take more time in the interior, but not at the expense of missing our new friends.||Practical stuff: Teepees = Cool!|| Breakfast= almost too good. Homemade EVERYTHING. Gluten free if needed, no issue.|| Rooms= clean, comfortable, nice bathroom, makeup mirror if you need that sort of thing, incredible soap (essential oils?)|| Other= Fun fact: they are wildlife rehabilitators. We met the neurotoxic seagull (on the mend) and the injured penguin (requiring hand feed 2 x’s per day) as well as their 3 sweet lovable dogs.|| Amenities= Did I mention the spectacular breakfast? The pool is clean and refreshing though a bit chilly for our time there. The dogs may try to follow you to the beach if you choose to walk. Beach activities include watching para-surfers, lessons available. Great backroads to explore if you venture out. Jose Ignacio proper a 5 min drive,||All in all, would go back in...

An amazing refuge in an amazing refuge, Jose Ignacio.||Expect to be pampered and made to feel incredibly special. Everything is handled with great care, and all the small things—a hot bath, fresh grapes from the vine, restaurant reservations—seem to happen as if by magic.||You will hope to stay for another day, and maybe you even will. ||Amazing human beings, animals, rooms and spaces. Prepare to remember it for the rest your life.||For the...
