Lucky Valizas — Hotel in Barra de Valizas

I had my first experience with prejudice at this hostel, and it was traumatizing. After staying for about 5 nights, and having a great time, due to the people I met and the friends I made, I faced the owner with an employee of hers, going through my things in my tent, I was confused and caught by surprise, and asked them why they were doing that, the answer I got, from the owner herself, was: “I know your Brazilian kind, I know what you are up to, you are trying to steal from me, my ex-boyfriend was Brazilian you are all the same.” She shouted that aggressively at me, and in my disbelief I tried to reason with her, at that point she threatened to physically assault me with her employee and call the police, at that moment I realized that I was dealing with a deranged person, and got scared for my own safety. I don't know if she was having a mental breakdown, maybe she was under drugs, or maybe it was pure and simple prejudice. I never gave her any reason to act like that, I was the victim of surreal accusations and pure ignorance. On top of that I witnessed her being anti-Semitic, that same day, with a group of Israelis, accusing them of theft as well, I didn't talk much with them, so I can't come to conclusions, but having experienced her hysteria myself, I presume they were victims of the same situation than i. Overall, I had a wonderful time in Uruguay, always being well-received, except for this case. In my opinion, this woman has mental issues, paranoia is one of them, maybe drug induced, maybe not, I don't know. One thing I can affirm for sure, it was an unnecessary stain in a wonderful trip, and if you are Brazilian or Jewish, avoid...

Camping and hostel in a pleasant environment, but facilities need improving. Hot water was offered from 7pm to 11pm, but it didn't work well. I had cold showers most days (and the weather wasn't really warm at night, so no fun). The dorms were not really clean and restrooms were only clean in the morning. Kitchen is a bit small, but works fine. On the plus side, the outside common area is quite nice, where people can enjoy barbecues or relax on the hammocks. It was overpriced for...

Acampe con mi hija y mi novio 5 días en enero 2018. El lugar es lindo, cerca de la playa, la terminal y el centro. Las parcelas están delimitadas. Hay que tener ciertas cosas en cuenta, entre el camping, el hotel y las "cabañas" se junta mucha gente y la infraestructura no da a basto, terminas esperando mucho para utilizar la cocina y te duchas con agua fría, la ducha solar no alcanza. Recomendaría que mejoren la intimidad de duchas y baños porque hay hendijas por las que se puede ver al que está al lado. Es un lugar limpio, baños con papel y jabón líquido. La cocina de 6 hornallas funcionaban 4 y en horno clausurado. Una heladera para todos. Tiene linda decoración y animalitos que lo hacen agradable. Hay que ir mentalizado a compartir los espacios con los demás turistas y adaptarse a que hay ruido hasta las 2am porque invitan músicos a tocar y la gente cuelga con su guitarra o tambores. Lo que me decepcionó muchísimo fue la irresponsabilidad con la que manejaron una situación grave con un árbol que está a punto de caer, si bien en el.momento lo apuntalaron, se comprometieron a cortarlo y no lo hicieron, nosotros nos cambiamos de parcela pero al otro día lo ocupó otra gente y no les dijeron nada.
