Just a clarification before the review: even though lived in Frankfurt, Belguim and London in the last years because of my business, I´m originally from Uruguay, therefore, I know quite well the hotels landscape in the country.||||Went ot Uruguay on Eastern to visit my family, and because of an event/opening related to a family-business I had to go to Paysandu for a week-end. I stayed in this hotel in the late 90´s, when it was really horrible, dirty and with the worst service I ever experienced.......but they renewed and upgraded the hotel, and for people who stayed there in the past, this upgrade is really clear and easy to see. It is a fine and nice place to stay, with an adecquate service, average clean and a more or less good service. However, some things are not good like||||- I had a big room, but the 20inches TV was about 8 meters from the bed, meaning that was impossible to see anything||- room quite dusty and floor dirty||- un-finished closet, with pieces of wood inside||- shampoo in a sachet, what makes almost impossible to open it. That´s really old-fasioned||- very bad parking facilities||- very unprofessional massseur. My wife took a masagge, and after that, she had to ask the reception to call the doctor, because hotel masseur made it took hard and worked on some high sensitive parts almost injuring my wife. ||- since we were with the full family, my sister-in-law, also took a masagge, and 2 days after it, she almost was not able to move her head||||On the positive side: good breakfast, good location, and friendly staff, but definitely just a 2 star hotel. No more. Ok for one or 2 nights if you must go to Paysandu, otherwise, I strongly recommend to search for alternative...
Read moreThis hotel markets itself as sophisticated and upscale - and it's nightly rate reflects that. We normally stay at hostels and budget hotels, but ended up here because other places were full when we came through town. While the room was good (clean room, comfy bed, private bathroom, TV), it was quite small and nothing special. We stayed in equally nice places in Uruguay for considerably less. Also, the hotel was noisy - the thin walls allowed us to hear all noises from the hallway and neighbors. Good breakfast - lots of fruits, pastries, and other breakfast staples to choose from. Friendly staff. A nice place;...
Read moreWell located, very comfortable bed, clean room/ shower. Buffet breakfast was OK. Frigo bar drinks at regular prices. Our room was joined to the next one by a wooden door so excellent for families but not so much for strangers. Unfortunately you could hear everything what they were saying/doing even though they weren't loud at all. I took an extra star from my review because when we checked out, I heard they only accept cash and wouldn't charge it on the credit card we had already used when booking directly on their website. I am not sure if this policy is clearly stated and I just missed this info but I still...
