San Marcos Hotel — Hotel in Punta Del Este

Stayed for one night, ended up there because of the reasonable price.||The room was ok: nice bed, so-so bathroom (no door at shower means wet & slippery floor.||We didn't try the breakfast because of the cost: didn't seem to be worthwhile.||The big surprise came at about 11PM, when the power went out and the room went black. Not the power outage itself, because that can happen anywhere. We were already getting ready to sleep, so it didn't affect us a lot, but as I opened the door to the corridor, and looked down at the lobby, I was shocked there weren't any emergency lights. At all. There was some movement by the reception, someone with a tiny flashlight, but the corridors and reception area were absolutely dark. I had my travel Maglite with me (my wife will never again tease me about taking it on trips), so we had enough light to call it a day, but I kept imagining what would happen it there was a fire or some kind of emergency: how would the guests find the exit?||Let's see if there's an answer to this from Management.||||Other than that, bear in mind that the hotel is close to the beach, but far from town:...

The good;||||- The Room was fairly clean comfy bed (for a king being two single beds pushed together) and looks kinda renovated.||||- The cleaning staff were very helpful and always nice.||||The Bad,||||- Wifi only in lobby.||||- first they will rip you off with the room, there is no difference between a Superior room and a Deluxe room others then a price jump.||||- The hot water doesn't get very hot and the shower is extremely slippery, nearly killed myself twice.||||- You have to keep the bathroom door closed at all time or else your room will smell like a dirty toilet. The bathroom stinks 90% of the time||||- The location is far from everything, there isn't even a place to eat around the area. The closest place to eat is over a half hour walk. You absolutely need a car. ||||- Lastly the blonde older female manager is very rude (goes by the name of Stella), speaks no English and gets frustrated with you quickly over the communication barrier. She makes no effort to try even with a translation app and couldn't even be bothered reading what I had translated for her. Extremely rude and in need of customer skills.||||If you book this hotel, make sure you have transport, book your stay online and have as little do with the staff as possible. There are no smiles there. ||||La buena;||||- La habitación estaba bastante limpia, cómoda cama (para un rey ser dos camas individuales juntas) y se ve un poco renovado.||||- El personal de limpieza era muy servicial y siempre agradable.||||Lo malo,||||- Wifi sólo en el vestíbulo.||||- En primer lugar van a robarte con la habitación, no hay diferencia entre una habitación Superior y una habitación de lujo que otros luego un salto de precios.||||- El agua caliente no llega muy caliente y la ducha es muy resbaladiza, casi me mató dos veces.||||- Hay que mantener la puerta del baño cerrada en todo momento o de lo contrario su habitación huele como un inodoro sucio. El baño apesta 90% de las veces||||- La ubicación está lejos de todo, no hay ni siquiera un lugar para comer por la zona. El lugar más cercano para comer es a través de una caminata de media hora. Es imprescindible que un coche.||||- Por último, el gerente mujer mayor rubia es muy grosero (va por el nombre de Stella), no habla Inglés y se frustra con usted rápidamente encima de la barrera de comunicación. Ella no hace ningún esfuerzo para tratar incluso con una aplicación de traducción y no podía ni siquiera se molestó leer lo que yo había traducido para ella. Extremadamente grosero y en la necesidad de habilidades de los clientes.||||Si vas a reservar este hotel, asegúrese de que tiene el transporte, reserve su estancia en línea y tener tan poco hacer con el personal como sea posible. We were rather unlucky... it rained for three days in a row out of the four we had planned to spend there and only got sunshine just as we were leaving. In spite of this, we had a very relaxing stay at the hotel. The receptionist was extremely kind and always ready to give us a helping hand. Taxis to the downtown area or mall are reasonable and they offer an excellent service, they are reliable, comfortable and fast. Needless to say, as soon as the sun appeared we went out for a walk, the hotel is only one block from the promenade, you get the best view ever! That walk was so refreshing and indeed made up for the loss of sunshine the previous days!
