Read moreReally baffled by all the positive reviews, especially those that speak about a warm welcome. The owner didn’t come to greet us (two women) or even tell us his name. Nor did the rest of the family. He only came over to complain, multiple times and in broken English, that there were no guests this year from Booking.com and bark at us to give him a 10/10 review, which clearly I am unprepared to do.
So many unsatisfactory things from this stay that I can’t list them all here. Of particular annoyance was that we consistently felt like walking dollar signs. It felt like due to fewer guests than previous years, they wanted to get as much money out of us as possible. Also, there was differential treatment given to us as compared to a tour group that arrived on our second day. Unlike us, they got tea and melon on arrival, a well-presented dinner in a new dining room complete with vodka and the attendance of the owner (happily, we were invited to join this), and bottled water.
Only saving grace was the location, which was lovely. Also, Ruslan, the owner’s nephew, who happened to be home from uni and spoke good English. He greeted as and took us on a (paid) tour of the mountains (although this ended up being shorter than advertised and he was on his phone for much of the time). The lunch and dinners were nice (breakfast was lacking) and they provided veggie options.
