Really baffled by all the positive reviews, especially those that speak about a warm welcome. The owner didn’t come to greet us (two women) or even tell us his name. Nor did the rest of the family. He only came over to complain, multiple times and in broken English, that there were no guests this year from Booking.com and bark at us to give him a 10/10 review, which clearly I am unprepared to do.

So many unsatisfactory things from this stay that I can’t list them all here. Of particular annoyance was that we consistently felt like walking dollar signs. It felt like due to fewer guests than previous years, they wanted to get as much money out of us as possible. Also, there was differential treatment given to us as compared to a tour group that arrived on our second day. Unlike us, they got tea and melon on arrival, a well-presented dinner in a new dining room complete with vodka and the attendance of the owner (happily, we were invited to join this), and bottled water.

Only saving grace was the location, which was lovely. Also, Ruslan, the owner’s nephew, who happened to be home from uni and spoke good English. He greeted as and took us on a (paid) tour of the mountains (although this ended up being shorter than advertised and he was on his phone for much of the time). The lunch and dinners were nice (breakfast was lacking) and they provided veggie options.

All in all not a particularly positive experience and not worth the expensive and long taxi journey from...

We made our way from our Yurt Camp to Koshkuduk in the Kyzyl Kum Desert and then a very long some 200 km along desert, mountains and occasionally villages into the Nurata mountains until we reached a series of seven small villages and we stayed at Hyatt Village with home stay very pleasant and even shower and flush toilet. Our highlight was a 6 km walk around the village late in the day. The area Included a national park where we saw endangered sheep with long curved horns and then on through the valley where we saw an old 10th century settlement ruin and mosque. The walk was really nice. Lovely dinner and talk and watched the women doing what their men folk command. through beautiful country- If you ever get the chance this is a must place to go to get a real feel for rural, traditional life. And there are old ruins in the walks near the village. And we had to say goodbye to our great hosts with their delightful baby

Spending 2 nights at this guesthouse was the highlight of my trip to Uzbekistan so far. This place is like a little oasis. A beautiful green garden with lots of fruit trees, several pavilions and benches to take a rest and a small stream running at the back garden. The whole place is perfectly clean and well maintained. I ordered dinner, it was a huge portion of delicious home-made lamb dish. The owner and some kids speak decent English and really take good care of you.
