We'd had an amazing time in Vanuatu, until we arrived at the Tanna Evergreen 'resort'. Firstly I'll clarify that we had awful weather in Tanna which meant we spent far more time in the hotel than we wanted. We didnt even catch a glimpse of the volcano and couldn't visit it on any of our 4 days as the river level was too high to cross so that didn't help our enjoyment of this trip but many of the problems we had were avoidable and the fault of this hotel. ||The hotel is falling apart as you'll see in the photos I am sharing. It was probably quite nice at one point but they have let it go so badly and in most other countries it would be condemned and shut down.||A few aspects of our stay which are worth mentioning;||Food - they have a large menu which looks ok until you discover after ordering that most of it is unavailable. We asked several times for recommendations and were told all was available to then find out most wasn't. Food quality was just ok but not worth what they charge and the included breakfast was bearable. We ended up eating most meals at Whitegrass next door which was much nicer||Rooms - probably the highlight of the resort which isn't saying much but they are ordinary at best. We had a family room with a bunk (no rail) and a queen size bed. Despite being 4 of us they left us 2 towels but eventually on the 2nd day were able to provide us with another 2. They forgot to clean our room on the 2nd day and only did it on the 3rd day after we asked. Electrical wires are exposed and I fear its only a matter of time before someone gets hurt||Facilities - what facilities? They have signs to minigolf and a gym but none of these things exist, the last remnants of them can be seen in my images. You cannot snorkel out the front as the coral is too sharp and shallow and not worth seeing anyway. They don't have any kayaks or SUP which would be handy to reach better snorkelling areas. The swimming pool looks good on their website but its filthy and there's no chairs to sit around it||Staff and tours - we did 1 decent tour to a Kustom village and the giant banyan tree with their team. As i mentioned we couldn't get to the volcano which wasn't their fault but he communication was appalling and no one could give us a straight answer or explanation of the situation. Another group of 10 people tried to do a 2am visit to the volcano and eventually this was cancelled without reason. I booked a fishing trip, was told it was confirmed for 630am so we arrived at reception on time. After waiting around we asked and they said 'oh it never confirmed'. They watched us wait and couldn't be bothered communicating. Eventually i confirmed the fishing trip with them for that afternoon, it went ahead but their 'guides' had barely any gear that worked and showed no care on whether we caught anything or not. ||The staff at management at this resort simply do not care, everything is over priced and really really poor. ||I'm really not sure how it can call itself a resort but it shouldn't even be your last resort...

The hotel is falling apart as you'll see in the photos I am sharing. It was probably quite nice at one point but they have let it go so badly and in most other countries it would be condemned and shut down.
A few aspects of our stay which are worth mentioning;
Food - they have a large menu which looks ok until you discover after ordering that most of it is unavailable. We asked several times for recommendations and were told all was available to then find out most wasn't. Food quality was just ok but not worth what they charge and the included breakfast was bearable. We ended up eating most meals at Whitegrass next door which was much nicer

The staff at management at this resort simply do not care, everything is over priced and really really poor.
I'm really not sure how it can call itself a resort but it shouldn't even be your last resort...
||En attendant, c’est un établissement qu’il convient d’éviter.||Eric ||Nouvelle Calédonie||||From December 17 to 20, my wife and I stayed at the Evergreen Hotel.||||As soon as we arrive in the GB04 bungalow that has been allocated to us, we notice that the bedding makes a loud crack when you sit on the bed (I only weigh 70 kg!).||||Our request to change rooms is refused, however we are fed an improbable story; that the cleaning lady will come and CHANGE THE BED!||||Of course, this will not be the case for the duration of our stay.||||This refusal to change rooms is all the more surprising since the hotel is far from being full.||||In addition, the bungalow is revealed to be in a state of pronounced fatigue, especially in the bathroom which shows traces of mould.||||The photographs put online by previous travellers are perfectly explicit on this point:||https://www.tripadvisor.fr/Hotel_Review-g317047-d665164-Reviews-Tanna_Evergreen_Resort_Tours-Tanna_Island.html#/media/665164/430074971:p/?albumid=19&type=0&category=19||||Shortly after our arrival, we order lunch. It takes 40 minutes to get a pasta dish (mediocre in taste and paltry quantity), when the restaurant is far from being full.||||Already questioned on this subject by a previous opinion (TripAdvisor, Pierre's opinion, New Caledonia, January 2019), the management is satisfied to respond:||“Hi there .... thanks for the review ... yes we are only a small resort and small kitchen on a remote island ... so we ask our guests to order in advance if you wish to have your meals quicker than 30 minutes ... happy to serve you at exactly what ever time you require for your meals ... next time just ask ... safe travels ”.||||In short, it is the customers’ fault if the restaurant is undersized and is unable to feed them in a normal time (in fact, even more than the size of the kitchen, it is the abundant staff that begs question).||||How useful, to discover on returning from my trip, the information that meals were to be ordered in advance...||||In the restaurant, not all the tables are placed on a flat floor. The comfort of the dining experience is affected.||||In the restaurant, there is no fan under the shelter. At noon, there is therefore brutal heat.||||In the morning, breakfast is supplied randomly (jam yes / no, yogurt yes / no, etc.). Do not hesitate to ask, because what is not offered is not necessarily absent from the stocks!||||The restaurant table which has the best view and is somewhat ventilated was systematically occupied by members of the hotel staff.||The customer who has not asked for anything is systematically blasted with elevator music, either in the restaurant or in the "Lobby" (1 sofa and 2 armchairs opposite the reception, the only place where Wi-Fi is available). Is it necessary?||||Solution: walk out of Evergreen, go 300m, and have your meals at the White Grass Ocean Resort, where its restaurant is perfect, for perfectly comparable prices!||||The staff at Evergreen are overabundant (there are obviously plenty of local jobs), omnipresent and constantly noisy: conversations, calls from afar and laughter from 6:30am to 7:00am and at noon.||||In the hotel gardens, the only shaded areas are occupied by staff members.||||Reading or resting is made difficult by employees who, if they don't have a lot to do, obviously have a lot to say to each other.||||If the hotel gardens are large and rather pretty, they are unusable: no shelter has been installed to offer shade to the walker, and it is the first time that I’ve seen a tourist hotel in a sunny country which does NOT offer ONE SINGLE CHAISE LONGUE, even by the pool.||||In short, this business has potential, but would require a complete overhaul of its mode of operation. It should inculcate in itself the notion of respect for a clientele which pays quite dearly (Tanna is not a cheap destination), for a service which it does not obtain.||||In the meantime, this is an establishment that should be...
