The Most Beautiful Place For a Weekend Glamping Trip!
I was craving that untouched nature, I wanted to watch the stars, but I also wanted a cozy bed to slip into at the end of the night. A weekend glamping getaway at LAK Tented Camp was exactly what I had been looking for! Camping, but an elevated level of comfort and a beautiful luxury tent? Sign me up! LAK Tented Camp was the perfect way to spend a weekend escaping the hustle and bustle of Saigon and relax by the lake!
Only a 45minute flight from Ho Chi Minh City landed us in the Central Highlands of Đắk Lắk Province at Buôn Ma Thuột Airport. From the airport LAK Tented Camp organized a smooth and seamless transport to LAK Tented Camp which made the stress of getting there nonexistent.
As soon as I stepped off the boat, I was in absolute awe. Stars, wildflowers, mountains, the smell of fresh air after it rained, this was exactly what I had been missing. Our tented lodging was a dreamy escape that should be at the top of everyone’s bucket list! Without ‘roughing it’ we still got those scenic views and also plush beds, fresh coffee, soft pillows, clean towels, a real bathroom and of course air conditioning!
They also offer some great tours during your stay! We visited the M’Lieng Village where we got to meet a local M’Nong potter and watch how she traditionally makes her pottery. We also took a bike ride through the local coffee plantations and were even invited into a typical M’Nong long house where the family grows their own cacao plants. They let us try raw cacao seeds and even offered us their fermented cacao drink which surprisingly turned out to be delicious! You can also visit Bim Bip Waterfall, kayak on the lake, meet the M’Nong elephants and watch an amazing M’Nong gong performance!
The food at LAK Tented Camp’s Y LAK Restaurant was nothing short of amazing! Our weekend consisted of mainly a Vietnamese set menu, with tons of local specialties. There was also a daily breakfast buffet including both an omelette and soup station, bread bar, cereals, fruit and other delicious food options. We always left happy, full and excited for our next meal!
This was a no stressing, just glamping weekend getaway! It’s like staying at a beautiful all-inclusive resort, but with canvas walls! No words can describe how incredibly sad we were to leave, but it truly wouldn’t have been the same vacation if it weren’t for the incredibly lovely staff who were so accommodating and helpful along the way!
With Đắk Lắk only being a short flight from Ho Chi Minh City, we will definitely be back soon! I...
Read moreWe spent two nights in a Tent overlooking the lake (last one #15). Very good concept. Our tent was next to the mini-farm, good to see the goats and pigs and chicken before eating some of them. The tent was well appointed if a little frayed at the edges. I understand the camp has been built 2016, the grounds are well kept and nicely laid out.|The restaurant and main lodge are in traditional style. Restaurant staff is knowledgeable. Reception and lounge staff, maybe because it was mid-season, mostly composed of nice enough but inexperienced teenagers. You can wait half an hour waiting for somebody to notice you are hanging out and maybe in need of a drink, while two staff teenagers are eagerly chit-chatting over some video they are watching on the laptop nearby. But very helpful overall, once prompted.|Food is hyper-local, and hence not the most sophisticated but certainly authentic for the Central Highlands. There is a lost opportunity to emphasize localism, what with the zell-tended vegetable garden in the middle of the camp, but no attempt to showcase the work or the results (the food in the restaurant). Similarly, if the resort is sustainable etc, then showcase it a little more than just in a hardly legible paragraph in the room flyer. Maybe organize a mini-tour, including of the resort temple on the hill that I discovered by accident.|Central Highlands are really interesting, minorities, crafts, traditions, cultures, agriculture, and the short tours are well organized. The lake itself is not that inviting, appartently it is a water reservoir but I would not drink that water. Explanations/touring the fishing would be a good thing too.|So all in all 4 as there is room for improvement but overall a good experience off the beaten path.|No...
Read moreThis was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. We paid a lot of money for dry, tasteless food served in insulting quantities, for poor service, and for torn tents that couldn’t be closed and filled with insects all night..
Our daughters were truly afraid to sleep in their tent, and even though we asked several times to get another one, the staff refused. At the end of the day, their only “solution” was to add two single beds to the parents’ tent, so we found ourselves five people squeezed into one small tent with four beds. Needless to say, we didn’t get any real sleep.
To top it off, breakfast was poor and even the coffee machine didn’t work. Considering the amount we paid, there’s no other way to describe the experience but as a scam or a rip-off.
If you have any self-respect — or respect for your family — you’ll do everything you can to avoid this place.
I am editing my review in light of the hotel’s response. They claimed that they refunded us for that terrible night, but unfortunately, that is not entirely true. They did issue a refund—but only for 50% of the cost. But I expect a place with a sense of customer service to provide a full refund after such a dreadful experience Unfortunately they disagree.... But that's between them and...
