Truly Dong Hoi homestay which you should stay if you want to know more about Dong Hoi and Quang Binh. |Located near Dong Hoi Airport, it take you around 3$ by taxi from airport. This homestay was developed and managed by local family, but designed by an American guy. So it is very local and traditional, but very modern and fully equipped. |If you have kids, it will be great experience they will have: big garden with full of local fruits (dragon fruit, jack fruit, star fruit, pepper...), home-raised animals(chicken, dog,cat...)|From Paddy Shack, you can ride bicycle (which is free offer by the house owner) to the rice field and sand dunes. Seeing the sunrise or sunset from these places is very beautiful and peaceful. You should try!|They offer places and things for outdoor BBQ. The place is very cozy and nice. The food is great. The old lady who lives next door can provide everything you need for your party with good price. |I want to send big thanks to Duong- the support guy from Paddy Shack. Read moreThis homestay is a short distance from Dong Hoi and you really need transport to make it work. Enter Duong, the grandson of the owner, who became our goumet guide and what a guide. We really wanted to experience the local food, not the tourist places, but the Vietnamese establishments where the locals ate, and Duong knew where to take us. We went to the back of beyond where the road disappeared, with no street lights to eat duck two ways whilst the locals cheered their football team on the TV; to a hill top miles from the caves (the local tourist draw) where they killed the chicken we ate with an amazing green dip, to shacks on the sea front for supreme seafood, 4 k from the centre of Dong Hoi. The accomodation is trad Thai and they gave us the whole house with a lovely terrace. Make sure you say you want Grandmother's Pho for breakfast (the best we ate in the country or you will get a western breakfast. Read moreWe have spent a few days there, but we wish we have spent more. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The house is fully equipped, European standards. Very nice balcony with a great view, big living room, big spaces everywhere in the house, and the garden is so so nice. We really enjoyed our stay there. If you go out of this amazing home you can taste the real vietnamese lifestyle. Rice fields, buffalos, people living their beautiful lifes outside from houstle and bustle of DongHoi City. The sea is just about 2 minutes from there, downtown 10 minutes, Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park is also not so far by motorbike. Duong, the Paddy Shack's guide is very helpful, he knows everything about the area and the facilities, he made our stay really special, and speaks English well!||All in all we highly recommend the Paddy Shack.
