Average Stay at Maia Resort – Some Highs, but Many Lows
We stayed at Maia Resort for 4 nights, and overall, the experience was average. The resort has potential, but it’s the small details and consistency in service that define a truly five-star experience—areas where Maia still has room to improve.
Pros: The rooms were well-designed, clean, and comfortable, and the spa experience was genuinely relaxing—definitely one of the highlights of our stay. We were also treated to a special Indian vegetarian dinner one evening, personally prepared by the chef, which was a thoughtful gesture. The restaurant surprised us with a lovely anniversary cake delivered to our room, which made the occasion extra special. Most of the staff were polite and warm, and overall, they did try to make our stay pleasant.
Additionally, we enjoyed a charming half-day excursion to the city of Quy Nhon, which offered a lovely glimpse into the local culture and surroundings—definitely a highlight outside the resort.
Cons: Despite clearly communicating our vegetarian dietary preferences from the beginning, we were repeatedly served incorrect dishes, including non-vegetarian items. In one instance, a mocktail order was mistakenly served with alcohol, which was concerning.
Communication was another challenge. Many staff members struggled with English, making it difficult for non-local guests to have smooth interactions.
The buggy service was often slow, and on one occasion, I was asked to walk from the spa to the reception due to unavailability—a request that felt out of place for a resort of this level.
Several smaller details also impacted the overall experience. A straw hat, which we assumed was complimentary (as is common in many luxury resorts), was collected at checkout, which felt unnecessarily strict.
Dining was perhaps the biggest limitation. Beyond the one special meal, vegetarian options were very limited, and the resort’s single main restaurant primarily served local cuisine. Additionally, although we had booked an all-inclusive package, water wasn’t included at the restaurant and was charged separately, which was unexpected and frustrating.
Final Thoughts: Maia Resort offers a beautiful setting and has the foundation of a luxury resort, but inconsistent service, communication issues, and limited food options brought the experience down. While we appreciated the warm gestures from staff, the excursion to Quy Nhon, and certain highlights, our overall impression was mixed. It was an average stay that could have been much better with more attention to guest...
Read moreWe stayed for 5 nights in our spring break (we live in HCMC) and we booked our break on Luxury Escapes. I will detail what was included and the amazing experience we had.
Breakfast: Included every day and a wide variety of western and Asian dishes. You could also choose of an egg menu dishes like eggs Benedict and royale or pancakes. Lots of good coffees and teas and juices to choose from.
Lunch & Dinner: We had it included, it was 1 starter or 1 main and dessert. If you didn't go for lunch you could do 3 courses at dinner. The menu was varied with an Asian section and a western section. We had pad krapow, beef rendang, spaghetti, pizza, Caesar salad, seabass, etc. So a good variety. Dessert was a scoop of ice cream or fruit plate. You can always order a la carte too. We had one romantic chef's table included too where he took our preferences into account and on that night we had tuna tataki, steak and lemon tart. Was gorgeous including set up outside with roses.
Drinks: We had one drink included every night and usually chose the house wine which was nice. Happy hour at both Pool Bar or Vibe Bar was good, buy one get one free on beer (Quy Nhon local is 60) or cocktails (150). Very reasonable for where you are! Bottle of wine with dinner cheapest 800. If you really don't want to spend loads on beer we walked 5/10 minutes to a local shop at the roundabout and bought a few beers to have in the room at 10/15k each instead.
Activities: we had one cultural excursion included in our package and wanted to visit the area. We were 4 couples in the minivan from 8.30-12.30 visiting the big Buddha nearby, the cham temple about 30 minutes away and Eo Gio, a beautiful bay. Would recommend to see some of the local area
Spa: we also had a 60 minute treatment every day. We varied from head/back/shoulders, legs, head and a facial. All brilliant and such a relaxing atmosphere. We left a tip for the spa staff for making our stay so relaxing.
Villa: saving the best til last! Our villa was beautiful. We had a garden pool villa and loved it. Separate bath and shower, great amenities, free mini beer (one beer a day), turn down service bringing us water and extra snacks in the evening. Two areas to sit outside as well as the double sunbed next to your own private pool! If you want to do lengths I recommend visiting the other pools as well for variety.
A gorgeous break, we...

We recently stayed at Maia Resort Quy Nhon on a fully inclusive package through Luxury Escapes, and it was everything we hoped for — and more. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the level of care and attention to detail throughout the resort.
We had a garden villa with a private pool, which was beautifully designed, spotless, and incredibly comfortable. The villa felt like our own little sanctuary, with a fully stocked minibar (replenished daily!) and all the comforts you’d expect from a luxury getaway.
Our package also included daily massages, which were a real treat — professional, relaxing, and the perfect complement to a peaceful stay. The meals were consistently excellent, with fresh ingredients, great variety, and warm, attentive service.
One of the standout features was the resort’s dedicated app, which made everything super convenient. You could order room service, request a buggy, book spa treatments or restaurant reservations — all at the tap of a button. The hotel also used the app to communicate with us directly, which made everything smooth and effortless throughout our stay.
The resort grounds were immaculate, with lush tropical gardens that truly blew us away — vibrant flowers, beautifully kept greenery, and plenty of peaceful spaces to relax. It felt like stepping into a private paradise.
Maia is about 30 minutes from the main town, so it’s ideal if you’re after a quieter, more laid-back escape. A great bonus is having access to the neighbouring Ocean Resort, which offers larger shared facilities like the main pool, Kids Club, and more beachfront space — perfect if you want a bit more variety.
The beach was stunning, with soft white sand and clear blue water. While the current was too strong for swimming during our visit, it was still the perfect place to unwind and enjoy the view.
The staff were absolutely wonderful — kind, thoughtful, and always happy to help. Their hospitality added a personal touch that made our stay even more memorable.
Whether you choose Maia or Ocean Resort, you’ll find the perfect setting for a relaxing and well-catered getaway. We left feeling completely refreshed and would...
