We stayed with Mr Kha and his family for 3 nights last week. We had a room with ensuite on the first floor of the house. The ensuite was large and basic, but with piping hot water.
In addition to accommodation, the services provided by Mr Kha and his family included tranfers to and from Ho Chi Minh City, and delicious and filling daily breakfast and dinners cooked by Mr Kha's wife, and occasionally his mother. Mr Kha's father maintains the large beautiful garden and surroundings. The homestay is located about 5 kilometres from Ben Tre, which can be accessed by bikes from the homestay or taxi.
The family also offers a range of private tours, two of which we took. Our tour guide was Tuyan, a young woman, who was very knowledgable and most accommodating. When a low tide made it very difficult for our large boat to dock to enable us to board our full-day tour of the coconut plantations and factories along the Mekong and other tributaries, Tuyan and several members of Mr Kha's family ferried us on motor bike to various locations until a suitable docking place could be found. Our first trips on motor bikes since we were young, and they were good fun! The tour itself was excellent, providing insights into the coconut industry and the daily working lives of thousands of Vietnamese workers.
Without doubt, our homestay with Mr Kha and his family, was a major highlight of our month's stay in Vietnam. We thoroughly recommend the homestay and...
Read moreNot the most conventional review, so bear with me. My time in Ben Tre took a very unexpected turn, and I left feeling overwhelming gratitude for Mr. Kha and his family.
The evening after arriving at the homestay, I was hit with a severe case of food poisoning. (This was 100% not caused by the food they served here, which was ample and delicious - I had already started feeling minor symptoms hours before check-in but chalked it up to exhaustion from being on the road.) As there were no taxis available, Mr. Kha drove me and my boyfriend to the ER himself at 2AM and continued checking in with us throughout my 30-hour stay at the hospital. Once back at the homestay, the family helped nurse me back to health with nourishing rice porridge, fresh coconut juice, and ginger tea. They arranged a car to bring me back to HCMC because I was too weak for motorbike travel and gave us fresh fruit from the garden to take home. Even the driver (friend of the family) did everything he could to make the ride comfortable for us. Everyone went above and beyond to treat us like two of their own, and it made all the difference in the world. I'll never forget their kindness.
Beyond that, the homestay was wonderful and serene, surrounded by beautiful countryside that you can explore via the bicycles provided. Please treat yourself to this lovely experience -...
Read moreThe highlight of our trip! Kha and his family were so kind, attentive and friendly. They went above and beyond for us. We stayed in the house, in a clean spacious and comfortable room, with a wonderful view to the beautiful garden, full of fruit trees, flowers and butterflies. Food was delicious - we are both vegan and they happily catered for us. ||Lovely location to cycle around (free bikes) and explore this special place. Not touristy (at least when we visited) and locals are so friendly.||TAKE A TOUR, they are a must! The team will not try to sell you the tours, don’t worry, but they are so worth it. We had an amazing day with Kha on the boat, walking around, seeing the sites, chatting, eating local fruit and seeing fireflies at night on the river which was magical. An experience we will never forget. We don’t usually go on tours like this, but we are so glad we did, not to be missed!!!||Wish we could stay longer. Thank...
