Gai Bao Homestay was the perfect place to stay on our way to Ban Gioc waterfall! The owner is incredibly friendly and, although she speaks no English at all, was incredibly accommodating and helped us do everything! The public bus to Ban Gioc goes from just outside and she will help you catch it. The rooms are just insane for the price with all mod cons, kettle, cups, bowls and whatever else you need. A huge TV with all the channels for a nice relaxing evening after your adventure to the 4th largest waterfall in the world! Getting to Cao Bang seemed tricky at first but we found a fantastic VIP minivan for cheaper than the agencies will offer. Search 'Thanh Toan Limousine' on Facebook and message them directly! They pick you up from Hanoi and take you direct to your hotel in Cao Bang. The ride was SO much nicer than the tourist sleeper busses. Can't recommend this homestay and the minibus enough! This was the perfect place to stay during our exploration of Cao Bang. Just outside the busy city center, less than 5 minutes away with motorbike, the homestay is an oasis of peace. All the spaces are open and spacious. The room is big, the porch where you have the breakfast is huge and shiny. Everything is very clean as well. The host family are amazing, they'll help you rent a motorbike directly there so you don't need to go fetch it in town. The breakfasts are plentiful and tasty (try the ban cuon!) and we had dinner twice there cooked by the mom, which were huge plates of delicious food.
