In short: a stay with lots of plusses and minusses

My girlfriend and I stayed in one of the bedrooms with a shared bathroom for 3 nights. The room itself was decent and fairly clean. Keep in mind that the rooms are really noisy so your night's sleep is among others dependable on your neighbours. The bathroom facilities are great! Two small comments: the toilets and showers are less clean than the bedroom and the toilet paper is missing most of the time. The shower was warm with a good strength. Definitely one of the better showers I had in Vietnam! Another comment is that there are lots of insects inside because the personnel leave the doors open.

The location itself is great with multiple places outside where you can sit and relax. As dog lovers we were very pleased to be accompanied by three lovely dogs. It's a beautiful and peaceful place to unwind.

I'm less pleased with the personnel. We read some great reviews about the personnel but what we have experienced did not meet our expectations. The two boys at the homestay were not very happy to help you, lacked enthusiasm and did not say hi most of the time. The owner herself was not present at the homestay but was very pleased to help by answering our text messages. She arranged taxi's, tours and scooter rentals. The boys also helped you out in the end but the communication and customer service were not so good in my opinion.

On the last leg of our holiday we arrived in Cao Bang with no plan and even less time. but thanks to our stay at MiCasa we can comfortably say we will be back on our next trip for sure! We chose MiCasa because of the photos on their website and we were not disappointed. A stunning homestay, in the stunning hills overlooking the city with comfortable rooms and above all else amazing hosts. Minh Anh and Duc, went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable and to help us squeeze in all of the highlights the region has to offer during our short stay. They offer bike rental and Duc offers a safe and reliable private driving service which we used to see Bang Gioc waterfalls, Tiger Caves and camping at Tung Mountain. They introduced us to some of the amazing cuisine of the North while we were there and made sure our stay was comfortable and full of adventure. If you agree to sleep here for a night in exchange for money, and the owner has nasty little ugly dogs with eye boogers barking right outside your door all night long and waking you up every 30 minutes, then logically the owner has violated the agreement and shouldn't receive money. If you order breakfast, at night, for the following morning, so you can get an early start, and then in the morning the staff pretends they don't know what you're talking about, then they shouldn't charge you for breakfast. The bungalow I was in smelled like sewage. Also getting here is a nightmare, it's a hill climb/scramble up a steep grade of red mud, or mashing your back brake and sliding down. I unfortunately had to spend 2 nights here with my group and I am more exhausted from sleep deprivation than I was from riding single track for 2 days. I have no idea how this place has so many...
