Phong Nam Station — Hotel in Cao Bằng Province

We absolutely loved staying here for a night! We did a 3 days / 2 night scooter trip from Cao Bang and stayed here on our second night. The homestay opened last February so is still new. For a rural area like this with barely any modern facilities around, we were surprised by how well maintained and chill the area is. We slept in the dorm since the double rooms were booked and had a surprisingly good nights rest. The bathroom could use a little cleaning/fixing but the water pressure was good and hot, so no complaining there. The family style dinner and lunch were really good with a lot of different dishes to try. The prices were very fair and we were extremely happy with the good quality coffee machine + beans. Most of all, the owner was very helpful and kind and for the 1,5 day we stayed here, we felt a little connection that made this experience even more awesome. Oh they have puppies! Nice and simple accommodation in the most perfect location! The owner is absolutely lovely and was happy to help with anything, including picking us up from the city and arranging a ride for us to the waterfalls the next day. Clean rooms. Perfect location in the beautiful Phong Nam valley. The reason I'm giving four and not five stars is for a few minor issues: firstly this accommodation is very simple, we stayed in a private room with private bathroom, there was no soap and only disposable towels (luckily we had our own), the towel rack in the shower was broken and generally the room wasn't ready when we got there due to some kind of misunderstanding, but they cleaned it up and got it ready in no time. We had an amazing stay at this place near Cao Bang! The location is absolutely stunning — surrounded by beautiful nature, with peaceful views and complete tranquility. It was the perfect escape from the noise of the city.

The owner, Zoom, is one of the kindest people we’ve met on our trip. He gave us everything we needed, helped us with anything we asked for, and truly made us feel at home.

The place has an authentic and local atmosphere, but the rooms are surprisingly high quality — with hot showers, air conditioning, and very comfortable beds. There’s also a chance to kayak or paddleboard on the river, and Zoom even let us go fishing and check out late with no problem.
