If you’re looking for a more quaint, off the beaten path (slightly) experience in northern Ha Giang this is it. The view from the windows and balcony of the house was incredible. Even though the traditional Vietnamese style house (wooden house and windows and rooms separated only by thin wood) was so beautiful, it was the host that made it special. We were immediately greeted off our motorbikes with his extremely warm demeanor and playful energy. He gets you excited to be there as soon as you step off. He had food ready for us and it’s been my favorite meal of my entire trip so far. Don’t expect luxury Hilton beds or amenities, it’s an open air house in more rural Vietnam. You will wake up to the roosters crowing, the dogs barking. But I hope you didn’t come to Vietnam not willing to immerse yourself in how they live! There will be bugs in the bathrooms (not a big deal). The beds are very firm. But the view I woke up to in one of the VIP rooms made it completely worthwhile. The provide small keys to lock your belongings as well within your room. After dinner, his son played a traditional bamboo flute insanely well, and he told us the history behind the song. They did our laundry for us. Just nothing but nice things to say. People who wrote reviews complaining about what I was very honest about here are unfair- you don’t pay much money and when you do a Homestay you should expect an authentic experience (the owner sleeps on a bunk bed near the register, come on now) Sad to see how jaded people are. All this being said, I definitely recommend this Homestay if you’re looking to meet a very kind, informative Vietnamese family and go on a bit of an adventure potentially outside your comfort zone. What a great memory. Thank...
Read moreJan 2024. Beautiful homestay perfectly located just above the Ma Pi Peng pass and at the beginning of the Skypath. The owner, Khanh, is very nice and helpful. He generously offered to help us booking our bus to go back from Meo Vac to Ha Giang, even though it was a few days after we stayed at his place 🙏 The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful view on the mountains around. The shared bathrooms (there are 4 of them) are kept clean and have steaming hot water to warm you up. There was a fire place lighted up in the dinning room in the evening and we had a nice chat around with sunflower seeds provided 😋 (if you're addicted like us 🙈)
We went for the combo : room + dinner + breakfast for 350k pax. The food was local and delicious, and with all the hospitality provided, we felt like it was definitely worth it ❤️
Only drawback I feel like I should share : it gets REALLY cold at that time of the year in this specific location. Just be prepared for it...
Read moreMany things to say and I don't know where to start. First the bed shift aren't changed. We booked 3 room and all our beds was full of hairs of other people. Then the bathroom was pretty dirty. I hope they will clean on morning but it was still same. Then the manager of the honestay will tell you they are Hmong but he actually come from Hai Phong and he is not a local. If he wear traditional clothe it's only for marketing. I've been to so many homestay in vietnam it's also the first time people say me "we would like to invite you to eat with us and have a local diner" but they actually didn't eat with use. Only coocked for us and didn't have any exchanges with them. And it's the first time after 5 years in vietnam that I have to pay the food when I'm "invited" So yes good location. But dirty and the authenticity is fake and based...
