Read moreI only review the Ha Giang 4 day tour, since we didn't stay at the hostel. I would definitely recommend to do this tour! No big groups and you get to see very beautiful places, like other reviewers mentioned.
I drove myself with a semi automatic Honda Blade (110 ccm). I had the correct licence and international driving permit (1968) from Switzerland. We got stopped by the police and I didn't get a fine, so no problems at all. The road was mostly good and if you are a experienced scooter driver, you will have no problems. But i still recommend to go as Easyrider. Here's why: you get to see more of the beautiful landscape! I had to concentrate often on the road. There are potholes and occasional traffic. If you consider riding motorbikes as your hobby or passion, then ride yourself! But if you are like me and just ride bikes occasionally, I think you are better off as Easyrider, if your Ego let's you do it ;) We stayed at cool homestays. No parties, but you can still get some beers or Happy Water or even do Karaoke if you want.
Our group was only 4 tourists and 3 Easydrivers, so 7 people. It was very cool and felt authentic. Our guide Thanh did a very good job. My girlfriend rode with him and had no complaints at all. His driving was safe and responsible. We almost never overtook and otherwise only when it was safe. He didn't get stressed or challenged by the big hostel groups that sometimes overtook us. Also our other drivers, Chou and Hanh drove responsible. Only sad that they didn't speak better English, I think they would have had many good stories.
This leads to the negative points. We didn't have a guide with good English skills with us. So we didn't get to know very much about the culture and history. This would have been important for us. But Thanh even had online english lessons at the evenings to improve his skills. Impressive!
The second thing is the organization on the first day. There were some misunderstandings about our group. So there was an Easydriver missing when we arrived. Our tour started a bit late and we didn't get enough information in my opinion. The organization of the tour start should be improved. I think it would also be good to have an official start meeting with e.g. route information, introduction of the group etc.
I still gave 5 stars because i really enjoyed it anyway, but I think there is room for improvement regarding the...
Read moreThis is the company you want to choose for the Ha Giang tour! We are an older couple and wanted to make sure we would feel safe and comfortable for a long journey. From our first contact & conversation with Ross over whatsapp, we felt confident this was the company we wanted to use and decided to book our 6 day private tour from Ha Giang to Cao Bang. We wanted to be immersed in the local culture and learn about the ethnic groups and customs of the Northern area. Nomadders is a professional, organized and smoothly run organization. Ross ( the boss) helped book us transport to Ha Giang and back to Hanoi, and booked our stay at Nomadders. Our private room was facing the pool and was modern & clean and the bed was heavenly! Every detail well thought out and thoughtfully executed on. Ross stayed in touch during and even after our tour, sharing helpful information and passing on great travel tips even though he was on vacation and off site!
We had the most amazing easy rider drivers, led by our excellent guide Truong and Thien. We visited Truong's home and were invited to have tea, met his family and with a local guide, walked his village and learned alot about the culture, lifestyle, family values and strong sense of community. Truong made this trip very memorable for us, he was kind, thoughtful and very caring, making sure our comfort and safety was always considered. Truong also has an incredible sense of direction, we nicknamed him " Google Maps". Thien knew my husband was struggling a little with sore knees and was always watching out & taking care of him getting on and off the bike and on slippery trails. All of our accomodations were exceptional, meals all delicious and we tried alot of new foods thanks to Thien's delicious "special sauce" he mixed up every meal for us as a condiment. It was a real pleasure to eat our meals together and engage with our guides, we had fun with them every day of the trip. We valued not being part of a huge loud group. Our views from the bike were stunningly gorgeous, the interaction at the Hmong homestay and the musical instruments was delightful. Riding the twisty winding road and visiting the waterfall at Ban Gioc was beautiful. We thank everyone at Nomadders for this unbelievable experience! Truong and Thien, you are in our hearts forever.
