Price value is not given for this “retreat”. While it’s located inside peaceful rice fields, there were several things that made it difficult for our stay to be what we had hoped: loud construction right next to the restaurant loud Vietnamese talking (I would call it shouting) of other guests for several hours right outside our room rooms are made from I assume is clay so there is no insulation. Doors are made from glass so light from lamps outside enters and you might need a sleep mask depending on your sensitivity a bathroom without a proper door + extremely loud flush, making everyone inside + outside feel uncomfortable as someone else here pointed out as well swimming pool without any possibility of lying down/a comfortable chair so there’s no option to relax there if you’re not inside the water Option to get a massage: 60min for 600k, which we wanted to book upon which our taxi driver from last night turned up and wanted to give the massage. You have to note that a massage at a long-standing massage parlour costs 200k for 60min in Da Nang. Expensive restaurant for very standard Vietnamese food, mostly fried and very oily. No healthy options. At a self-proclaimed retreat, where I go to relax and do something good for my health, this is really quite disappointing. Basic breakfast with filter coffee and fried foods. At arrival we had a total of 1.4L of drinking water in our room for a couple. Upon request to get more drinking water (as there’s no shop you can easily reach to sort this yourself), we got an extra 0.7L.
For 100 USD per night I’d expect much better quality of service.
On the plus, everyone was very friendly and offered to get us taxis everywhere. The view from the room was very lovely and it was quiet at night so we got good sleep.
Without rating: there is not much to do apart from go on a walk around the rice paddies and sit in the restaurant or inside your room to read. You can get a tax to Mai Chau, which takes 30min. We were there for a festival but without this, I’m not sure what activity there...
Read moreWe stayed at Mai Chau Onsen Retreat for a few nights and absolutely loved every moment. It’s one of the most relaxing and beautiful places we visited during our trip to Vietnam.
The location is breathtaking — surrounded by rice paddies and misty mountains, the retreat offers a serene atmosphere that’s perfect for unwinding. Waking up to birdsong and views of the peaceful valley was magical.
Our room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated in a traditional style. The highlight was definitely the private onsen with natural hot spring water — such a treat after a day of exploring the area by bike or foot.
The staff were incredibly kind, helpful, and attentive. They helped us arrange everything we needed, including bicycle rentals, local tours, and transfers. Their hospitality made us feel truly welcome.
The restaurant serves fresh and delicious Vietnamese food, with some unique local specialties. Breakfasts were...
Read moreHad an amazing stay with my family at Mai Châu Onsen Retreat. It's nearly half an hour from town and there's very little in the way of shops or food in-between, however it's absolutely worth it for the incredible, secluded location and service. We received amazing hospitality from all of the staff, especially Ưng who went absolutely above and beyond the call of duty. We are very grateful for her amazing hospitality. We received fresh fruit from the farm daily as well delicious breakfasts. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Mai Châu, especially if you have a motorbike...
