This family run hotel and convention centre was quite a surprise to me given that the room tarrif was relatively inexpensive (300k). At reception, there is a sign indicating prices for each room number with the cheapest rate at 180k. The only slight downside is that the hotel is located a little bit of a distance outside of the centre of town. However, I would assume that most people staying here would have their own transportation, so the location shouldn't pose a problem. (Only a few minutes drive or ride.) When I arrived, nobody was in attendance at reception, so I did have to wait several minutes until a staff member got someone to assist. The hotel has a coffee shop (Joy Coffee & Milk Tea) out the front (with shaded seating), and the lady was over there. She hurried over and sorted out a room for me (and my dog....the hotel is pet friendly). The hotel's accommodation rooms are all on the 2nd floor and only accessible by stairs. The room I was assigned was spacious, fairly well equipped, had a private bathroom, was all very clean and included free WiFi It had a large double bed (though unfortunately the mattress was a bit hard, but not rock hard - about a 7 out of 10 on a hardness scale), it was air-conditioned, had a flatscreen TV (with a couple of English movie channels [Box Hits & Box Classics]), a small refrigerator, a wall mounted fan and some furniture (wardrobe, vanity desk with mirror and stool, bedside table [not near the bed] with kettle, a small table with 2x chairs, and a shoe/ luggage rack). Overall, a very functional and comfortable room, especially for one night. The bathroom was also spacious and clean, and provided good hot water and pressure. Basic complimentary items were also supplied. On the 2nd floor, the hotel provides a communal balcony and a large wooden table and six stools located just inside. The Phuong Dung Hotel boasts a large convention centre building adjoining the accommodation block and a sizeable room on the ground floor, too. However, no food is available on-site, so you must venture out to get meals. About a 15-minute walk up the road, there was a lady cooking and selling fresh Banh Xeo and Thit Nuong (very cheap) or a short drive into the town's centre. Here is where you will also find a Winmart and the local markets. The hotel reception does have a refrigerator with a few beers and soft drinks for sale. The hotel has some sheltered parking available for both cars and motorbikes, but it is not entirely weatherproof. If I was in Plei Can again and needed a place to sleep for the night, then I wouldn't hesitate to...

This place is a mess, installations don’t work, dirt is everywhere.
Just do yourselves a favour and drive on for a few Kilometres. Amongst the thousands of wonderful places to stay in Vietnam this a profound disappointment.
By the way: it’s noisy. The DHCM is right out of the front door and busses and trucks keep doing what they use to in Vietnam: use their horns all night.
