I want to be very honest with this review. We got offer from Topas eco lodge to have a night in this place as part of the package. For the price we paid we were definitely not happy at all. Topas charged really a lot (i dont know how much you guys pay booking straight with them), but we were very upset with what we got. Few times mentioned to them prior to arriving that we are vegetarians and being inside the village we were expecting better dishes. It was very limited and not really tasty. When we said we r not happy about food they kept bringing pork or chicken to us...duhh...We basically staid hungry and had to go find grocery chips. Next morning our breakfast was: white bread, cold pankakes and instant coffee. THATS IT!!! No eggs, no veggies no fruits...nothing. But tour guide felt free to fry egg for himself, we found it very disrespectful being guests and paying SO MUCH and not being offered a decent breakfast before 3 hour hike. Again ended up eating chips from last night grocery trip. The rooms are very basic (but the bedding and towels were super clean). Sharing bathroom and shower with other guests was also not the best experience for the money we paid, had to watch somebody's hair all over the place, was disgusting and disapointing. The village has nice views if you walk 30 min out of it. But the heart of the village is full of plastic garbage and trash, was not the best experience there at all. Totally not what promised and definitely not what we expected paying few hundred dollars. Its more like max 50 dollars per night for 2 people place or a backpackers place. Dont expect any luxury, good food or comfort. Only the lady who prepared for us herbal bath left for us a good impression. And one more thing. If you are expecting to see beautiful rice fields around as in all Topas advertising, keep in mind that they have it only in august-september, they put rice to grow in May and remove end of September. So basicaly July-august-september its only green. The rest of the year its brown...
Read moreVery nicely located directly next to a river, although you have to know that the river is always very loud and sensitive sleepers might have trouble.||Rooms rather small, but very nicely furnished. Unfortunately, our room smelled a bit musty. But enough comfort for one night.||Very good, simple local food. Exceptionally friendly staff.||An absolute must and extremely interesting is the guided tour through the village; don't miss this!||Attention: don't take many suitcases with you, you have to transport them over a small, swaying suspension bridge to the hotel...!||The way from Hanoi here is very long and the last stretch (about an hour) is very tedious and uncomfortable: very bad road and many curves, sometimes the cars cannot cross at all, so the driver has to drive backwards. Not for the...
Read moreCame across this place on Instagram and took a chance on it. Turned out to be exactly what we needed to detox from hectic city life. Our twin room was small but comfortable, with AC and ensuite bathroom. Wifi worked well throughout. The food was so fresh and felt homecooked. ||||We went on hikes through the Red Dao village, rice fields, and to the waterfall, and were well taken care of by our guide, Mr Hoang, who was very knowledgable about local practices, food, and plants. Walking through the terraced rice fields and swimming in the waterfall were definite highlights of our trip.||||Will be recommending this place to friends and family who are looking for a place to destress and escape the busyness of city life, that is comfortable but off the...
