Showed up without a booking but called the number they had on the sign out front. The grandfather let me in and gave me tea while I waited for the rest of the family. I had a filling family dinner with them and their two children, with some beer and rice/corn wine of course. You'll have to largely communicate via Google translate but it worked out just fine and we were laughing and talking the whole dinner. It is a beautiful wooden home with laundry, bathrooms and comfortable bedrooms. Simple but great for a stop on the way to Ha Giang. Motorcycle parking inside the gate under a roof as well. They were very helpful and warmly welcoming. From the start to the beginning, they did everything they could to help us have the best conveniences and relaxation during our stay and travel. They provided meals either and it was super local and tasty. I had to say it was very “homey”. They have a garden which has plenty of strawberries which are delicious. The room was simple but clean and cozy. The shared bathroom was clean too. This is an absolute lovely homestay , as two motorcycles travelers traveling around the whole of Vietnam, they where super friendly and accommodating, we arrived without a booking and they gave us a great rate for their family room as their bungalows where fully booked.
