An amazing journey to Tiger Island!
Big thanks to my friend Thai (@Nguyễn Thái) for a very interesting journey around Tiger Island and Long Xuyen City in An Giang Province in Mekong Delta.
We met for the first time at Can Tho City. And he invited me to visit his hometown. I was surprised but the next day I have accepted his invitation and went to Long Xuyen.
The first things for us were tasting the Lotus Tea and having a conversation with the new friend for me and the old friend of Thai. His name is Khang (@Trúc Khang). But now I want to call him PSP. He does know why. By the way the tea was delicious.
Next we went from the city to the Tiger Island. Is is actually the big island in the middle of the river. And there was a boat transportation for cars and motorbikes from Long Xuyen to Tiger Island.
We went to Thai aunt's Homestay (Homestay Ho Thanh Van 21, My An 2, Mỹ Hòa Hưng, An Giang). It is in the center of the island. Let me have some words about it. It looks like the house is in the middle of the jungle. Very Interesting feelings I had.
And after that we went to the gardens on the island and visited the farm. There were a lot of flowers, green colors everywhere and two monkey bridges. Very funny. We also tasted some Vietnamese coffee with ice and I ate a lot of sweet Jackfruit. Oh… Tasty.. Thanks Thai's aunt for cooking.
Then we went back to the Homestay, cooked pancakes and had a nice conversation with Thai, his aunt, Khang and Huyen (@Hà Ngọc Huyền), the funny female friend of the two guys. In the evening we had dinner with pancakes, fish, mushrooms and veggies. Ammm… Wonderful.
After dinner we decided to take a little walk and spend some time at the bank of the river. We were joking and having a lot of fun. A wedding party was supposed to take place. Huyen was supposed to be a wife, Thai as husband, PSP as padre and me as the special guest. But it didn't happen, because Huyen had ruined everything by saying NO! Just a joke...
Then I was back to the Homestay for sleep. Big Thanks to Van, Thai's aunt, for cooking for us, talking with us and warm welcoming.
Next day we woke up early, took a boat and went to the floating market. It was an amazing boat ride, because in the morning it is usually a little bit cool and you can take a look at the beautiful sunset. The awesome one! I really enjoyed this boat trip. I would like to spend a whole day on the boat but… I had no time.
Finally we went to the floating market and ate some fruits there. The floating market in Long Xuyen is very different from the one in Can Tho. Very quiet and peaceful. We also had some interesting fish foot massage right on the river.
This boat trip helped me to see something that I want to call The Original Vietnam, or more Natural Vietnam. There are many houses that stay on the river. Right on the surface of the water. And a lot of people live there and go fishing or sell fruits and vegetables. Very unique and very interesting experience I had there. I am really happy that I have been through it and had a taste of such Vietnam.
And then we went to the coffeeshop. A small one, an old one. But the coffee there is something special. It is a must taste in my opinion. It is different from other Vietnamese coffee.
And then we went to the bus station. So I said goodbye to Long Xuyen and the Tiger Island and to my new friends here.
Thank you so much for this wonderful day with a lot of emotions, fun and great...
