After 5 years living in Vietnam and loving it, and never having complained (we’re not that type that complains all the time trying to save money), this experience was very unpleasant. The staff was overall very unhelpful.
Unfortunately, the DeLuxe room upon arrival had a strong odor, it was hot, moist, moldy and smelled like a cellar. As I have allergies, we right away politely asked to downgrade for a Superior Room that my friend was staying in - and it didn’t smell as the roof is not made of the same carved wood which creates the strong mold/humid smell when not maintained well. They kept insisting on showing us other DeLuxe rooms - despite me specifically asking for a regular Superior room as I tried it at my friend’s next door, and it was fine, no smell - and drove is the electric car across the huge compound at 1am. Then they admitted they didn’t have another smaller room. We finally gave in and slept in the same room.
The next day, they gave us the second room when somebody checked out - a smaller one, as we asked the night before.
Long story short - during checkout, they kept insisting on charging the fee for 1st night DeLuxe room that we never user.
Even simple requests for help - like booking a car. Totally unhelpful. We ended up taking a taxi from Hanoi to the resort. Same on the way back - they didn’t understand that we preferred to take a private car, to be independent and more agile with our drive back, and kept offering their “limousine”, which ended being a shuttle bus. For which we didn’t have time and the time schedule didn’t fit us.
Motorbike rental - same story. The staff didn’t help to even give us a phone number or so, just said to go find a shop nearby. So we did, and it took us around 3,5 hours and 3 taxi drives to actually get a motorbike. So, the first day we didn’t see much of the surrounding. Any other simple query was somehow impossible to get an answer to. Everything felt difficult.
Not sure if it’s the management, but we’ve never experienced any resort/Airbnb in Vietnam where the employees would have so much attitude and a sort of anti-service mindset. Maybe they just didn’t like us by default because we were foreigners. That’s how it felt.
Definitely not worth the price. Extra info - most main courses on the menu are +- 300k VND. Salmon 500k VND. For the level of service & quality, it...
Read moreAfter being on a full tour for 13 days we wanted to look for a nice quiet hotel away from the city. We decided on going with the Emerelda as it had a 5 star rating and my partner wanted to get somewhere nice and relaxing for the five days before we flew back home. On our first night we discovered our tv didn’t have all the channels which wasn’t really a big deal we just used the wifi, which wasn’t great but usable. The next night we were woken up to kids screaming, jumping and splashing in the private pool it was 11 at night and the rules stated the pool closes at 9, they were also running around on our balcony we had to call security 3 times for them to try resolve this, telling us the kids promised they would be quiet in which they were not. The next day we spoke to the manager and she moved us to another room that would be more quiet. Th3 next morning around 8 we woke to mouse dropping’s in the shower and loud music playing. My partner called them around 1pm to ask when the music would stop and they said of was a 24 hour ceremony happening outside the resort and they were going to move us again, once packing everything up again and moving we got to our third room we would be staying in, after we were about to unpack we found a cane toad on the floor which we had to call reception again to get it removed. Unfortunately this has been the most un relaxing and un peaceful holiday, it actually turned stressful. For $300 a night it was not the 5 stars we were hoping for. The rooms are spacious but not luxurious at all. The restaurant has nice food but way over priced. You can rent bicycles for 200,000 a day but up the road from the resort get a scooter for 300,000, if you do want to get around as a bicycle will not get you far at all. I would not recommend this...
Read moreWe just got back from our family trip and stayed at Emeralda Ninh Binh Resort — it was absolutely amazing from start to finish!
From the moment we arrived, the service stood out. At the front desk, chị Thắm was incredibly helpful, going above and beyond to take care of every single request we had. The resort is huge, so they provide golf carts to help guests get around, and the drivers were all so friendly and welcoming.
One of the biggest highlights of our trip was our tour. Our guide, anh Thông, deserves more than 5 stars — honestly, 100 out of 10! He was extremely knowledgeable about the local history, thoughtful, and thorough. He made the entire experience unforgettable. On top of that, he’s also a fantastic photographer! He made sure we were taken care of in every way — from our safety to our meals — and helped us capture beautiful memories we’ll cherish forever.
Another person who made our trip special was our driver, anh Phong. Driving in Vietnam can be stressful, but he made us feel safe the entire time. I usually can’t sleep in a stranger’s car, especially in Vietnam, but with anh Phong, I felt completely at ease.
One last tip for anyone visiting: rent a traditional dress and hire a photographer for a photoshoot around the resort. The property has so many gorgeous spots for pictures, and the hotel reception can help arrange a professional photographer at a very reasonable price. We were beyond happy with how our photos turned out!
If you’re looking for a relaxing, beautiful, and memorable getaway with top-notch service, Emeralda Ninh Binh Resort is the...
