The Beach House Resort — Hotel in Phuoc Thuan Commune

My fiance and I booked this hotel for 11 nights tjough Expedia from January 29th-February 9th. It was suppose to be our last 2 weeks in Vietnam and we wanted to spend them on the beach enjoying sun and swimming. Little did we know that this hotel is located in the middle of nowhere and caters mostly to locals!|We had to take a private car from Ho Chi Minh City because there is no other way of getting here unless you rent motorbikes in HCMC and drive here, which wasn't an options for us because we had a few pieces of luggage with us. The private car cost 1,800,000vdn (over $100CAD!) and took over 2 hours to get there.|P.s I contacted hotel asking if they provide any shuttle form Ho Chi Minh and 4 days later I finally got a reply back suggesting to take Uber! We tried doing that and it doesn't work, no Uber driver wants to drive you 2 hours away from HCMC! One driver picked up the date, came and as soon as we started loading our luggage in the trunk he realized the palace is 2 hours away and left... Thanks God the lovely front desk lady of the hotel where we stayed saw what happened and offered to call us a private car, which was very spacious, clean and comfortable.|When we arrived to the hotel we were greeted by very unpleasant receptionist who barely spoke English and didn't smile even once. We were given the keys to our room and not offered to be helped with our luggage. We booked a seaview bungalow and it was located further away, so we dragged our luggage for over 10 mins on a very bumpy pavement.|The bungalow is very old and basic. It is very spacious and includes a small fridge, safebox, TV, hairdryer and some basic amenities like sleepers (used!) and vanity kits.|After we put our things away we walked back to reception to talk to them about renting a motorbike to get around the area as we realized that it is very secluded while on our drive to the hotel. To our biggest surprise we were told that they don't rent bikes or even have bicycles for guests and the closest place we could rent bikes would be in Vung Tau city which is 1 HOUR away! When we asked where can we eat in the area, she told us that the hotel's restaurant closes at 6pm! And the closest small town with bars and restaurants is 20KM away! I asked her what if we get hungry at 10pm what should we do in this case and she laughed and shrug her shoulders looking at me like I'm from Mars and asking crazy questions! There is no store at the hotel to buy small necessities nor there is any store or market in the radius of 10-15KM!|If we only stayed here for 3-4 days we would just forget about the bikes, park ourselves on the beach and enjoy a very lazy vacation, but 11 days of just beach, wasn't looking too appealing to us!|So next day we missioned to Vung Tau city. The receptionist called us a taxi, which cost 750,000vdn ($45CAD! Crazy expensive for Vietnam!). Finally we were able to rent a motorbike, explored Vung Tau a bit and went back to the hotel. Oh, forgot to mention breakfast! That was another very frustrating moment. The breakfast was included in our room rate, but what we got is hard to call a breakfast. The first morning we came down for breakfast at 9am (breakfast is from 8am-10am) we were told that there is very little food left because people ate a lot this morning!!! We travel 5-6 times a year and we have never had anyone telling us this especially an hour before breakfast is suppose to finish! So the only thing they could offer us was the instant noodle soup (you know the cheap packaged stuff that cost $1) or an omellete, but they said they have no vegetables or bread to serve with omellete, so it's just 2 eggs beaten up and fried! I demanded to atleast have some fruits and coffee as looking around I saw tables of locals with huge plates filled with mango, watermelon, dragon fruit and pineapple. The girl rolled her eyes and said that she will get us some fruit, but coffee is not included with breakfast only hot tea! What? In which world coffee is not included with breakfast? Anyways, to spare you other details, the breakfast was very disappointing to say the least!|From then on, things only got 'better'!|The next day we came back from a day of exploring the nearby area to find our room being flooded with sewage water as the pipe burst and water went all over our shoes, luggage and bags that we had left on the floor!!!|By the way, on our first day after we took a shower the water didn't drain for over an hour and when we went to the washroom and flushed the toilet the water form the drain in the floor started going up! It smelled like rotten eggs for hours! We had to shut the washroom door and put towels underneath the door to capture that awful smell inside! We told the receptionist about it the next morning and she said they will look at it but most likely there is nothing they can do about it as the bugalows are very old and the sewage pipes can not be fixed, so we have 2 options - either stay there and just deal with it or move to another room, but not on the beach with seaview that we paid for, but a simple room away from the beach. What do you think we chose???|So the night when the pipes burst they relocated us to that simple room that they offered us in the first place and which had no TV or any other amenities, but atleast working sewage!|Man oh man it was the worst night of our lives! In the rooms next to us a huge Vietnamese family was staying (atleast 15 people) and they were partying till 1am right outside the door. It felt like they are sitting inside our room! They were so loud and obnoxious, they kept yelling, laughing, running around and slamming doors. Plus they had music on very loud and kept smoking, so we were lying in bed covering our faces with sheets so we won't inhale the nasty stink of their sigarettes! Finally they calmed down by 1am and we were able to fall asleep, just to be waken up at 5:20am by someone slamming on our door! We jumped up thinking it's an emergency and went to open the door, but as soon as we started opening the door that person ran away! Can you imagine how frustrating that was? We went back to bed trying to fall asleep, but No No the family woke up and started talking really loudly, kids running around opening and closing doors, they put the music on and that was 6:10am!!!|We stayed in bed watching TV for the next 2 hours, then got up and went to have breakfast. Well guess what, they decided it's the perfect time to start karaoke! So from 9am till 11:30am they were singing karaoke Non Stop! I'm not kidding you! And believe me they don't have the voice of MJ or Adele lol 😂|That was the last drop for us, so we decided we need to get out no matter what! After an hour on the phone with Expedia we were given a green light that we can check out anytime and leave this awful place. We checked out the next day and took a taxi back to Vung Tau where we stayed for the next 3 days and enjoyed our time.|To conclude...Unless you are looking for an absolutely nothing to do place with no access to ANYTHING (especially if you don't have a car or a bike rented) stay away from this place. It caters strictly to local families and misadvertises itself on Expedia! I hope our my review will help you to avoid wasting your money and nerves on this...

Had to do a visa run from Thailand and decided on Vietnam as there is no visa fee for under 14 days.|I wanted to stay on the beach but did not want a 6 hour bus trip. Looking online, Vung Tau looked dirty and overcrowded but Ho Tram, just up the coast was an up and coming resort.|I booked The Beach House online after looking at prices and pictures.|To get there was taxi from airport to bus station, bus to Ba Ria and taxi to resort.|I was checked in by two charming girls who ran the place and was shown to my room which was a concrete lodge on the beach.|The room was large, clean and comfortable with Wi Fi, minibar, fridge and veranda.|For dinner there was no menu and I left it to the girls to suprise me and was not disappointed.|Criticism is that during my stay the place was deserted. The nearest shop was 2km away and was a shack at the side of the road and nearest ATM was 15km away in Ba Ria. |Having said the resort was empty also applied to the beach which I had to myself.|I cannot praise the two girls enough who were hard working and always had a smile.|For a romantic get away, this place is perfect but not so good for a...
