An absolute hidden gem. I came here for one night while cycling from Hoi An and fell in love with the place - the food, the owner Nguyen and his lovely family, and the great lunches and dinners shared with his family and other guests. I ended up staying 4 nights!
Owner/help - honestly can’t say enough positive things about Nguyen and his family. He speaks great English and is super keen to learn about what foreigners like when they travel so he is constantly improving his setup here. He invited me to join lunches and dinners with his family (his 5 year old son Bi is a blast), and even took me to the local markets and morning fish market (literally on the beach) and gave more info than any market tour I’d been on in a cooking class. Became more of a friend during my stay here and is an absolutely fantastic owner!
Be sure to get him chatting about food (especially from the north - he’s from Hanoi). We had long talks about Vietnamese food, and it’s cultural importance! Plus him and his mom are amazing cooks. We had hands down the best bun cha I have ever had one of the nights.
Vibe/setting - the restaurant opens up with on the beach so I’d often wake up to morning swims or pre lunch swims. Beautiful and quiet beach. Yes, the beach has a little bit of plastic and trash on it as it’s not as well maintained as some of the super popular beaches but it makes up for that by being serene and peaceful. Plus Nguyen has a great initiative - pick up one bag of trash from the beach and get a free beer!
The Tam Thành mural village is nearby and is a super cool place to stroll around; there’s the biggest war memorial monument in southern Vietnam just 6km away, and a local homestay that runs a fish sauce workshop. Just ask the owner and he’d gladly show you around the areas!
Rooms- the dorm is a little older and rustic as other reviews have mentioned and there are lots of mosquitos. But Nguyen is working to improve each of the bungalows and dorms to include better doors/etc and you can see this on a few of the bungalows already!
Seriously can’t say enough positives about this spot and the owner. He even phoned up a friend to have me stay with for the next leg of my trip. Excited to see where he takes this place as it...
Read more3 1/2 Stars. Many reasons to want to give more: the beautiful setting ON the undeveloped beach front, in a grove of coconut palms. Very friendly and hospitable staff who will go out of their way to meet needs IF you communicate with them. The owner speaks helpful English, though the Google Translate app was needed sometimes. He can help with transportation and sightseeing needs. Good food, and if they don't have something you want, tell them, and they can usually have it within 24 hours. This is kindly described as a "vintage" resort. That means it's old and was probably unused for a long time, so some areas are overgrown with abandoned buildings in disrepair. The buildings in use have been recently refurbished, so Western toilets and instant-on hot water are both nice. Biggest structural problem is that the roof of my bungalow was obviously constructed pre-air conditioning, so there is a ventilation gap where the wall SHOULD meet the ceiling. Also, the small window in the toilet/bathroom has no screen. So mosquitoes have easy access to the inside. You can ask for an electric fan in your room, and that plus the mosquito netting provided can lessen the problem. In the evening, when eating at the open-air restaurant, long sleeves and long pants will help with the mosquitoes. Bring your own repellent for your head, hands and feet. Laundry was unorganized (possible equipment breakdown) as I think many travelers wash their own clothes by hand and hang out to dry. I think this place is ideal for backpackers who aren't fussy about much. Others might be more comfortable at the resort hotel up the beach to the north. Whatever you do, this is a great place to meet fellow travelers over dinner or a beer in...
Do vậy đồ đảm bảo tươi ngon.
