My boyfriend and I were just stopping over in Thanh Hoa for one night on our way to Vinh, so we decided to stay at this hotel based on its central location and positive reviews. We booked a standard double room in advance and when we arrived at the hotel the receptionist confirmed that it was a double room we wanted. But when we got to our room, it was a twin room. The room itself was okay, it didn't have a window but was spacious and at first glance seemed clean. However, as we started to unpack I discovered that part of the floor, wall and table were teeming with ants. This, combined with the bed situation, prompted us to go back to reception and request to change to a double room. The receptionists informed us that a double room would cost an additional 70, 000 VND, which we agreed to pay. The double room was much larger and brighter as it had a window (without a view). It was also ant-free. The bed was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was also large. The bathroom initially appeared a bit grubby, but this turned out to just be some wear and tear (e.g. discoloured/scratched tiles) rather than dirt. After a comfortable sleep, the following morning we went down to the restauarant for breakfast. The food on offer was rather limited and unappealing, but what made it entirely unpalatable was that most of what was on offer was completely crawling with ants. The bread, the fruit, the fruit juice and coffee were infested. Vietnam's climate means that it is almost impossible to entirely eradicate insects, and having lived here for almost two years I am no stranger to ants, which are particularly persistent. But this was completely unacceptable for an hotel, and the staff didn't seem to be remotely fazed by the problem. I have stayed in countless hotels and guesthouses of varying standards during my time in Vietnam and never encountered this extent of infestation. With a little care and attention this hotel has the potential to be much better, but at present I would not recommend staying here, especially as there is no shortage of alternative accommodation available in Thanh Hoa that offers much better...
Read moreWe stopped here for one night on our way south from Hanoi. We booked it based on the location and the cheap price. Unfortunately the photo of a room we saw previously was misleading, the hotel was at best grubby, at worst dirty. We weren't expecting anything amazing for the equivalent of £10 a night, however I would expect cleanliness. The walls were dirty and damp in places, the shower curtain was dirty & mouldy and the bathroom was smelly. The staff were helpful enough but not particularly ffriendly, no smile or hello when we came down for a cold, meagre breakfast buffet. Wouldn't really recommend for anything other than location as a stopover. Nothing for tourists in...
Read moreStayed here for just couple of hours. The hotel is 20-30 minutes walks from the railway station. We arrived around midnight, check-in was smooth. The room is spacious but the bathroom is small. We left early morning the next day about 6:00am, there was no one in the reception just the security who doesn't speak good english. We couldn't leave because they had my passport. The security was keep on calling his colleague, since it was taking so long I ended up taking my passport from the desk. It was okay, however I think it's better if you inform the reception upon check-in that you are leaving early so at least someone...
