We were given great instructions as to where to purchase tickets from the Futa Bus Company in Ho Chi Minh City. Hằng even reserved the tickets and bus seat booking for us to Ben Tre. Our bus didn't take us directly to the Garden Farmstay, but we were instructed that a mini bus would come and collect us and drop us at the required spot.||We sat waiting and wondering if the bus would ever arrive, but sure enough it collected us and our luggage.||To my amazement a Scottish gentleman arrived on his motor bike and introduced himself as John, and told me to hop on the back, but I declined and said I would walk, but was told it was too far and in fear and trepidation I managed to "get my leg over" and to cling onto John who had promised to go slowly as he knew I was somewhat nervous. I need not have worried as he was true to his word.||We entered through a small gate into a very welcoming area of the garden which had the typical straw hats fluttering in the light breeze.||Our room was large with a small fridge, large bathroom/wet room and two double beds ||each with a mosquito net over the top. These were really necessary as it was quite warm.||Our first meal was a barbecue which was delicious and we all sat round a long table chatting to each other - there were eleven in total.||We enjoyed our first night and decided to stay a little longer and we were not disappointed. Hằng and John's hospitality was so lovely and the cooking delicious. ||Hang arranged for us to take a boat trip and to visit a coconut factory where sweets were being produced and also honey which we all sampled. Qui (who assisted Hằng and John) very kindly arranged for us to sample some Vietnamese tea.||We finally had to say our goodbyes, but not before we had received details of places to visit along the Mekong Delta, and Hằng, bless her, popped into the village on her motor bike to obtain some tablets to treat a cold.||Don't, miss out on visiting this wonderful Garden Homestay. It was one of our best visits during our...
Read moreAfter researching many things before choosing this Garden Homestay, it’s location won hands down. |Quiet, off the main road, but also with easy access to the towns of My Tho and Ben Tre by the main highway.|Hang, who runs the Homestay, sent me extra directions to help pinpoint the location and even though I arrived early, let me put my light baggage in my room before setting off on my bicycle. |My room was equipped well for my needs, fridge with water, beer and space to put my water bottles in its freezer compartment for future use. Everything worked as needed and I had no issues during my stay.|The evening meal was delicious, fresh and traditional and if wanted, a selection of wines was available. Evening meal can be served whenever suits you, nice touch, breakfast too.|As with any Homestay accommodation, the local sights, sounds and creatures of the night are so much better than the noise pollution of Ho Chi Minh, I slept well both nights in my comfortable bed.|This was by far the best Homestay I’ve stayed in while living here in Vietnam and would highly recommend a visit to explore, what is a beautiful part of the Mekong Delta. |Nothing is too much trouble for Hang, taxi into town, trip to markets with her, organising tours, bike hire and also know where I could get my mountain bike washed after 2 days on the muddy trails.|Will definitely return with friends and...
Read moreThe double room contains a bed, small fridge with a bottle of water in it, fan and wardrobe. There is no oven or mini bar as per the room description. Apparently there is a shared kitchen but I wasn’t told about it during my stay. The toilet is quite low and has the only shelf in the bathroom above it. Because the sink was sloping due to not being fixed properly to the wall, there was nowhere handy to store toiletries. ||The bed was comfortable and the setting is very quiet and pretty. Breakfast was included but I had to ask for dinner and understood that this was an extra cost that I was happy to pay. Hang made trips to the market to purchase vegetables for my meals each evening. The food was lovely. ||There is a new puppy at the accommodation who is very playful and chewed my thongs. She also bit my legs while playing and caused several wounds that bled. I showed the owner and she gave me some antiseptic.||The window doesn’t close and can’t be secured. I couldn’t lock my door anyway and kept it closed by putting something against it. I always took my valuables with me when I...
