The location is perfect, just a short walk to the ferry that takes you across to the National Park. Everything you need is available on site including a restaurant, massage services, bicycle hire and tour bookings. It is a very convenient place to stay and the hotel grounds are truly picturesque with tall trees, vines and lush gardens.
We started our stay in a garden view room with a balcony. The room itself was modern, clean and comfortable with air conditioning, a ceiling fan, hot shower and a fridge. The bed was comfortable, although the thick timber bedhead made me a little nervous about bumping my head during the night. The room was set apart from the main buildings with a peaceful garden outlook and a pond nearby. However, the balcony was not quite what I expected. It was simply a ground-level area outside the room with a table and chairs, rather than an elevated space.
Because it was not quite what we were looking for, we stayed just one night in that room. The manager kindly offered us a bungalow next. We had a look but it felt too old and worn, with visible gaps in the floor that would allow insects in, so we declined. She then offered us an upstairs river view room which we accepted and stayed in for the next four nights.
The view from this room was lovely. I spent a lot of time on the balcony reading and photographing birds, although not many seemed to come over to this side of the river. The room itself was comfortable with a spacious and firm bed which I liked. The main downside was the shower. The hot water took a while to start and would only stay hot for a few minutes before turning cold. Also, if you are a light sleeper, this room may not be ideal. The roof is very thin, especially in the bathroom where you can see through it slightly, and the tree above drops small round fruit throughout the night which can be noisy.
Overall, the garden view room felt the most modern and well maintained, while the river view room had a great outlook and a lovely balcony.
The restaurant served delicious food at very reasonable prices. The staff seemed a little unfriendly at first, but after a couple of days they warmed up and became much more welcoming. The gentleman who runs the drink stand was especially lovely. He was always smiling, friendly and very kind to us.
The manager, Van, was extremely helpful throughout our stay. Even though we changed rooms a few times, she was very patient and accommodating. She also helped us arrange tours and made sure we had everything we needed. Ms Mến at the front office was also incredibly kind and helpful.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. The atmosphere was relaxed and the location was excellent. With everything so close and the natural surroundings so beautiful, it was a great place to unwind and...
Read moreIn general, if I don't rate a restaurant, I rate a stay here a 4/5.
The accommodation was great. Right on the river, beautiful views from both balconies, close to the ferry that takes you to the other side of the river where you can go to the National Park. And they also have a nice pool for the guests.
The only thing we didn't like was that when we arrived there were a lot of dead insects in the mosquito net over the bed. Well, when we told them about it, they immediately cleaned it up.
And the door to the balcony could not be closed from the outside (the automatic was always fully open), which was a problem if you wanted to go to the toilet at night (you had to go through the balcony), because all the insects and mosquitoes would fly into your room. We told them about it, but they didn't fix it. Finally we got an idea and every time we went to the toilet we put a rag between the door and the frame and then they didn't open anymore.
The bikes they rented were not much, but on the other hand they were better than the ones you can find at the rental office in the national park. If you are taller, it can be a problem for you to find the right size bike.
I rate the restaurant as below average and do not recommend eating there.
The food is average to below average.
The rice was old, just warmed up and dry.
The Pho Ga for breakfast was not real but from a bag.
When I ordered banana pancakes, they brought me two dry pancakes, a bowl of honey and two bananas still in their skins. I had to peel them and cut them with a fork because they didn't even give me a knife.
When we ordered spring rolls, they only brought us meat, salad, noodles, and one kind of vegetable. So they were pretty much nothing. The egg, cucumber, mung sprouts, and other ingredients that give the right taste were missing.
When I ordered a beer, they forgot me and brought it only after I...
Read moreFood at the restaurant is delicious. Location of the hotel is super close to the entrance gate but if you are looking for peace and tranquility this is not the hotel for you. The river view rooms have a great view but as of October 2024 they are interrupted by constant construction noise by day and the sound almost echoes throughout your room if anyone is being loud down in the restaurant at night. There was a very drunk and loud group one of the nights, we might as well just be in the city. We discussed this with the staff and they were very apologetic but it is a true disappointment, I guess it is a gamble on what other guests are visiting. Hopefully they can finish the multiple construction projects they have going on soon. It is an issue especially if you are here to bird watch and wake up early. It is our first time in Vietnam and are realizing that some locals don’t come to nature to be quiet, some are inconsiderate with loud noise. So sad in a beautiful place like Nam Cat Tien. Depending on what room you book, the surrounding landscaping and interiors can vary tremendously. I would say things look different than advertised and rooms are spread between different properties. If you have the opportunity, visit the property before making a reservation. This hotel has a lot of different accommodation options and are currently building a 4 story building on site-not sure that is on theme with the natural surrounds?? The staff are very nice but need to take some accountability if they want repeat guests. We did the early morning Gibbon trek offered by the hotel and were lucky to see some in the wild. Not sure if you can hire someone directly to ensure they get the...
