I couldn’t be happier with this place. It was such a great place to land for my first day in Ben Tre. The family is amazing - even though my Vietnamese is quite poor, they still made great efforts to speak to me, take an interest, and make me feel quite welcome.
The food is super tasty (breakfast included, but you pay for the other meals).
Because I didn’t want to use the provided single use plastic water bottles, I bought a 20 liter bottle at the little tạp hoá (convenience store) located at the entrance of their property.
I sometimes worry in the rural areas that there will be lots of loud music late into the night or even throughout the day, but this place was SOOO peaceful and quiet. I was even able to have a few zoom meetings overlooking the water (with only the loud motor of a 1-2 boats passing through).
I stayed in one of their rooms with no ac, just a fan. Honestly, the fan was slightly jankie, as its mounted on the wall (a floor fan might be better), but it was good enough, and I was comfortable the whole time. Also, I believe the room/cabin itself was made of coconut wood, so that’s a big plus :)
It would get five stars, but: one downside is that the ferry that takes you to the island stops running at 8:30 pm, so if you wanted to stay out a little later for any reason, you might have a harder time coming back the room is almost perfect, but decor wise, the ceiling is an out of place “modern,” kinda cheap “office” ceiling, whereas the rest of the cabin is perfectly rustic, natural wood. It would be 100 times more beautiful if the ceiling style matched the walls and floor.
I would 100% come back and spend my day relaxing in a hammock and letting my cares melt away as I admire the majestic coconut trees :) :) :) Thank you, Thuy and family, for a wonderful stay with the...
Read moreOur stay with this wonderful family was absolutely delightful! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and at home. The family is incredibly adorable and went out of their way to ensure we had a memorable experience.
The food they prepared was outstanding—every meal was delicious and made with care. We couldn't get enough of the flavors and the variety they offered.
The accommodations were charming and comfortable. We stayed in individual bungalows on stilts, which were not only unique but also very well-maintained and cozy.
One of the highlights of our stay was the boat tour on the Mekong River, which lasted over four hours and was priced very reasonably. During the tour, we made several stops where we learned about local crafts and traditions. We saw how mattresses are made from bamboo, observed the brick-making process, and even got to taste some delicious local chocolates and coconut candies. We also learned about the various uses of different parts of the coconut, which was fascinating. The tour included tasting some local chocolates and enjoying a fresh coconut drink. We then biked back through the picturesque villages on the island, which was a delightful way to see the local scenery up close.
The father skillfully steered the boat, and his daughter served as our guide, speaking excellent English and sharing insightful information about the sights and culture.
This family is truly amazing—generous, kind, and full of warmth. We wholeheartedly recommend this homestay to anyone looking for an authentic and enriching experience. We give it a 1000%...
Read moreI really had a 5 star stay here! After the bustling cities and touristy area I’ve been in the last couple weeks, coming to this homestay was very refreshing. You surrounded by palm trees along the river and in the local culture. I loved my wooden cabin, built on stilts over a small canal! However, this is not a 5 star hotel resort if that is what you are looking for. Though I believe there are some rooms that are tiled with air conditioning, I could see the water underneath the cabin in between my floor boards and the shower water drains directly out a hole in the floor. Also, there are a lot of noisy roosters and dogs that don’t seem to ever sleep if you are a light sleeper ;) There is a mosquito net over the bed so I had no problems with bugs and the shower is surprisingly nice, with hot water and all! The common areas are so beautiful, built along the river and the food is great! They also have bikes and scooters to rent right at the homestay as well as some activities and tours available which they lead themselves. They are super nice and always ready to make your stay a good one. I think every guest I met while there ended up extending their stay,...
