Positive:|Yennie is the hostess with the moistest! Probably the friendliest and most organised host in all of Viet Nam.|Outside each unit is a huge patio that overlooks an enchanting, quirky, garden.|Meals are served on the tables on this balcony. Room service perfected.|Nice things just “happen” every now and again. “Here’s some fruit for you” “Would you like me to cut it up?” “Do you need more water?” “Here’s some cookies to enjoy”|Drinks are available in a common area fridge – just mark up what you use and pay when leaving. And you can put your own stuff in the fridge too.|Meals were very nice – cooked by Yennie’s mum. (By now you should be realising this is a family run business)|They strive for sustainability. So you get filtered water in a glass bottle that gets refilled rather than wasting plastic. This theme is repeated in many aspects.|Bicycles are free, and come with helmets.|Motor bikes can be hired.|Laundry costs about 30K per Kg – cheap. And well done, same day service.|Yennie has created a suite of self guided tours on Google Maps. And the bicycles have a holder for your phone so you follow the route.|There is a selection of guided tours available. You’ll most likely end up with tour guide Henry whose English is very good, so you won’t miss any explanations. Recommend to take one of these tours – but you’ll need to organise that beforehand – don’t worry, Yennie will be sending you messages asking which tour you want to take before you get there!|Facecloths and towels provided. I’ve been to 5 star hotels that don’t provide a facecloth!|Yennie’s English is perfect.|This place currently has only 2 units. This means you’ll have an intimate stay.|The location is far away from the noisy centre of town.|Negative|This place currently has only 2 units. This means you should book well ahead, so you don’t miss this unique experience|The location not near the centre of town. But there are ATMs, a shopping centre a smallish market and a ferry across the Cổ Chiên River are within easy walking distance.|Neutral|Remember this is a Homestay – you are guests of a family. So don’t come expecting 5 star accommodation features like:|A television. Nice and peaceful.|Hot water at the washbasin (there’s a selection of solar or electricity heated hot water in the shower). Bit tricky if you like hot water to shave.|A fridge – but you can use the fridge in the common area.|[This review (or variations of) has been submitted to Google, TripAdvisor and...
Read moreI had a privilege to stay at Mekong Pottery Homestay for 3 nights with a family group of 6 in November 2024 and be hosted by Yennie and her amazing family. That was a best decision of our holidays in Vietnam. Yennie was super helpful in arranging Mekong delta transfers and logistics of our trips before our arrival and during the stay at her place. She shared a lot of valuable tips which allowed me to plan our itinerary very efficiently and got the most of our time in Vietnam. We loved the Mekong Pottery Homestay. Bedrooms are super comfortable with a lot of detail, personal touches, lot of love and care, everything is designed to make you feel at home and relaxed. Bathrooms - well so cute and amazing you just have to see for yourself. Great dinners- local Vietnamese home cooking- can’t recommend enough to try their menu - you will not regret, it’s a privilege to have dinner here. Drinking a lot of beer in the garden each evening, last evening with Yennie’s father also - amazing man who is super knowledgeable about world global affairs and taught us a lot about local life here. No mosquitoes at all surprisingly. We had a great time on two day tours with Yennie and her team. Visited many interesting places in Mekong delta, but the most important were the people we have visited by doing Yennies tours. We felt humbled and privileged to be allowed to meet and talk with locals who opened their hearts and homes welcoming us and showing us the way of life and time flowing in Mekong delta. It was a life changing experience making us want to return to this beautiful area visiting these people again mentally more prepared for this...
