My stay at the Protea Safari Lodge was very relaxing and very enjoyable; this is all down to the excellent leadership of Jenny.||All the staff are brilliant and unlike some reviews I have written where I have named individuals, it just would be too long a list here to do. Everyone and I mean everyone so attentive, friendly, and welcoming. I will mention one or two only to exemplify the great service I received||The first example to illustrate this was in the bar. I was sitting at a table getting bitten by insects as I had forgotten to put insect repellent on. The barman, whose name is Saviour, really was a saviour. He noticed I was getting bitten and went and got me some insect repellent. ||Another example of the exceptional service was the help I was provided by the Front of House Manager Silimwe. His help with booking my Protea Hotel in Livingstone was brilliant despite the barriers that we confronted and all my indecision. I know this might seem a pretty straightforward transaction and something I could easily do myself , but there is a lot more to it and I’d rather not bore you with the details. However, he has the patience of a saint!||There are no real negatives, but if you are looking for lots of different things to do, then this is probably not for you. However, if you enjoy wildlife, nature, walks and bike rides, then you’ll find enough to keep yourself occupied.||The lodge also does drives around the grounds, but do not expect to see any of the big five. This is the home of many different grazers, which makes it a safe place to walk and cycle.||If you are looking for a chilled out place to stay, then I would most definitely recommend Protea Safari Lodge. ||I will conclude by just saying a huge thank you to all the team, who made me feel so welcome and made my stay so enjoyable!!!||Top Tips: Go on one of the drives, take advantage of the mountain bikes available and enjoy the walks on the trails around...

This was an amazing place to stay. we had one of the little chalet villas and they are so spacious. largest bathroom in most of my travels. you had a bathtub and a separate shower area, little patio door that opened to an area that you could sit out with a table and a couple chairs, also a living room with sofa in a couple chairs. the restaurant doesn't have a order off the menu type thing - more of a buffet service for breakfast lunch and dinner. they offered jazz on Saturday however we did not take that in. they have a local massage person that comes to the property and my daughter and I did each do massages and that was really good. the pool was slightly cool but it was definitely refreshing in the warm afternoons. while we were sitting in relaxing by the pool some Monkeys came around climbing on the fence and getting a drink out of the pool. there were some bushbuck that would basically greet us every morning at the breakfast area. we took the safari game ride twice and saw a couple different animals each time, not as many as we would like but it still was fun. as far as the staff and service, it's as great as any five star place I've stayed at. there felt like there was a couple staff for each guest there it was...

I used to lovely coming to protea hotel in chisamba but this last visit was disappointing. For a place people come to to enjoy some peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of busy cities, it was quite the opposite this time round. Loud music was being played almost all day, which just ruined the peace of the place, not to mention the excessively loud group that came with it.

Was disappointed to see that coffee was just instant coffee served in sachets, not brewed.

We had payed for a package deal that was inclusive of bed, breakfast and dinner, but apparently that was on their system and they asked us to pay for dinner, luckily we had shown them that ad for the package that was posted online and they sorted it out.

Masks are compulsory, but it seems they only demand people to wear masks at certain times. During dinner no one wore masks at the dinner buffet but at breakfast buffet not allowed to select food without a mask.

The only thing we enjoyed was the lunch, it was cooked to perfection, the beef fillet was tender and very tasty. We also enjoyed the quiet morning when the party goers were still asleep!

I really hope this isn’t the case all the time, because it used to be such a...

First, the signposts that lead you to the lodge can be misleading regarding the distance. Upon arrival, you may find that checking in takes longer than the stated time. The service pace is quite slow, which seems to be a common trait in the service industry in Zambia. If you’re into solo travel, be aware that there are no activities available for individuals, so it’s a good idea to bring a book or two and a laptop for your entertainment. Additionally, don’t expect to see any wildlife, as there is none around apart from a few kudus here and there- I kid you not I walked 6 kilometres into the safari and didn't meet a single animal apart from the Kudus that graze next to the lodge and maybe the two caged lions. The wine collection is also quite poor. Overall, while it's not a terrible place, it doesn’t justify the amount of money spent.

Had a wonderful day-visit experience at the Protea Hotel in Chisamba. The grounds are beautiful and the staff are really helpful and friendly. There is a pool which is well kept and child friendly and the food at the restaurant, although a bit more in the higher price range, was very good quality. We even had some friendly wild game join us as we relaxed and ate lunch. There is a lion enclosure which has three female lions (these were amazing to see) and option of a game drive which we chose not to do. Overall a very relaxing and enjoyable break and will certainly be doing it again at some point, hopefully trying out the accommodation next time.
