Crossing the river in a small motorised boat we were transported into Nirvana. Just six tented rooms comprise the camp. Each is organised to look directly onto the river where one may while away the time observing the birds and animals, especially the groups of hippos disporting themselves. Indeed the snorting and snuffling of the hippos may qualify as ac”theme tune” for the camp. ||||The tents/rooms are enormous. The bed is capacious with mosquito nets set down at night. There is a bathroom with free-standing bath and walk-in shower supplied with piping hot water. A separate unit holds the toilet. Two basins complete the sanitation ware. The wardrobe area forms part of the bathroom area. ||||Outside there is a plunge/small swimming pool. Sun loungers and couches abound which bare under trees. A bush buck wandered idly past as we relaxed. This open area for animals means that that one has to be accompanied to the room at night. ||||Food is excellent. Breakfast is almost up to you. The local yoghurt is superb being thick and creamy. Pancakes or eggs are offered. Lunch is usually salad with a quiche and hot dish served fresh as a buffet. One selects dinner at tea from a menu of only three courses all delicious. ||||Drinks are included and may be chosen from a selection inside the room or from a small bar in the main room for the entire camp. ||||Turning to the safari drives on offer and other options these are at the heart of the camp. The guides are informative, friendly and keen to make the drive as exciting as possible. Giraffe are a special animal here in the park with the Thornicroft or Luangwa sub-species only located here. ||||The staff were outstanding Emmanuel gave a great news about the history of the camp and the others in the group. ||||Superb. Read moreThis Lodge is run like a well oiled machine and our 4 night stay was truly memorable. T &T even sent someone from Tours Africa to meet us at check in at Lusaka Airport and to assist us with our bags when we did not expect that service at all. When we touched down at Mfuwe airport, Moses picked us up and he was our guide for the duration of our stay. With his encyclopaedic knowledge of all things relating to the bush and his very personable nature, we had multiple conversations with Moses which we enjoyed. It was an interesting experience to arrive on the other side of the Luangwa River and take a motorised boat to the Lodge which was sited along the river on 60 acres of private land. Such a beautiful property that’s tastefully furnished and respecting nature in all of its splendour. The openness of the Lodge and its villas meant that it was possible to sight wildlife along the river at any time. The entire team at T & T deserve to be commended for their outstanding service in ensuring that guests do not want for anything. Little things like buttoning up a pyjama top before folding it to leave on the bed and boiling a kettle of water at the time the bed is turned down in anticipation of the guest wanting a hot drink are just examples of how exemplary the service is. The game drives were excellent in that Moses knew how to track the wildlife effectively and it was truly a special treat on our last day when a pride of lions appeared. Ours was the only Land Cruiser there to witness the antics of 9 cubs, 3 lionesses and 2 lions as they emerged from the long grasses and lazed around. Thank you to all at T & T who showed us how we could easily get accustomed to...

Each chalet is given a dedicated guide and safari vehicle so you are always going to have your own space. The lodge is tastefully decorated and everything is inviting, the main area is spacious with lots of places you want to kick back and relax. The rooms are beautiful and vast. A wonderful extra king bed with ample relaxing areas both in the room and on your private deck. A very special space to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the environment around you. Of course all of this would not be worthy of praise if the staff and management were not up to scratch - In this area they excel. The guides are very knowledgable and quickly understand how to tailor their input to meet your interests. The rest of the team are just so friendly and very well trained to make you feel special and while they meet your every requirement, also make sure you have your privacy and space. ||||Chinzombo is a magical experience and while i am fairly critical, this lodge and its team are top notch and you will not regret choosing it as your holiday...
