Mika Convention Center — Hotel in Lusaka Province

This hotel is literally falling apart. Can't count the number of doors that fell of during my stay here. Most lights in the room don't work unless you request them to change them. ||||Towels are horribly stained and look dirty. There are no house keeping standards. One day you'll get soap, a toothbrush, a shower cap and everything nice. The next day you'll get nothing but one horribly stained and torn towel. After a while they also stopped changing bedding and towels. ||||The worst part was when we started losing our valuables about a month into our stay. They didn't have enough safes when we got there and when they eventually provided them, the safes were locked. I'm sure they could have opened them if I had asked but I was completely over it at that point. ||||The food is very hit or miss. One day you get a huge portion that you can't finish the next day you get a very small portion for the same amount. One day the food is well cooked and tastes good, the next day the food is too salty and a mess. ||||I once found a live worm in my salad and the response I got from the kitchen was that some vegetables were not washed. I didn't even know what to do with that information.||||I also received raw chicken one day and since I had smothered it in ketchup, I didn't realize I was eating raw chicken until I was done.||||In conclusion, it's good for a one day but don't stay long. It's also not a great place for groups. When you're few you can pick the best rooms but when you're in a large group you have to take the terrible rooms as well. ||||Door connecting to the veranda at the back doesn't always lock so make sure you get a room with a...

The air conditioner smelled of mold when I turned it on. I was not able to take a shower twice because of no hot water and for a good period of time there was no water at all. There were cockroaches in the room. The rooms have sliding doors that have too much space in between so when wind comes they give a hitting sound that doesn't stop (both rooms had this). Two nights in a row I ordered from the restaurant. All they had was either tbone or chicken wings and drumsticks. The tbone was good (but a hotel this size should have more of a selection). Weird weird weird, that's how I'd describe my stay at Mika- Apparently they don't take bookings from Trip but are still on the app and have a number of reviews from people! They eventually accepted the booking and let us stay - The place resembled something from The Shining - EMPTY, quiet and eerie ! Location is good because it's near to the airport but don't stay here for any longer than needs be ! Also DO NOT book the airport transfer it is extortion ! Rather download ULENDO the app and book a taxi in advance with them! Mika were charging 300 PP - We got the taxi for 115 in total!
