This will be lengthy but I am going to give a very honest review.

-The road is alright, passable with a higher car. The place itself is lovely, green and I loved the nature around it. Lots of butterflies and birds too. -Service, well we were welcomed by a lady called Tina who gave us a good offer and swapped up our room. However, our first breakfast had runny eggs even after asking them to make them very well done. They corrected this and brought me my 2 well done eggs, ignoring my sister's plate. The other lady did not even ask what drinks we wanted and gave us what she wanted. They never asked even once whether we enjoyed the food, I offered my own compliments for the egg napolitana. -We love to ask for prices of things so that we plan better but this seemed to make the other lady impatient and think we were not meant to be there, if you know what I mean. I felt uncomfortable most of the time I was there. -They had a lunch menu but the chef was not around on the day we wanted to order. What we ordered though was not nice. Firstly, they got our order wrong, we asked for 3 portions of chips and 2 quarter chickens, we ended up with 2 chicken and chips portions and 3 separate chips, too much food of which 2 plates went to waste, which was an unnecessary expense. The chicken was dry and not cooked through well enough. We ended up not being motivated enough to have the Saturday night buffet. -The room smelt very damp, but was clean. -We were beaten so badly by what we thought were mosquitoes, but now we see they may be bed bugs. My young sister, our baby and I have huge bites and for my young sister, they have turned into boil like bites. It is so unsettling and they are painful.

Lastly, I have no idea if I would ever recommend anyone to go there, maybe for a day visit. The weekend nights were noisy and the noise was right outside our chalet causing our baby to lie awake most of the night as she is a light sleeper.

Please work on customer service, food and your room...

The team at Pioneer is amazing! This place is a hidden gem around Lusaka. My friends and I stayed here in one of the larger lodges, near the main building. It was great. We had a minor maintenance issue and it was resolved almost immediately. Mwangelwa was the nicest person and made sure my friends and I were well taken care of and make check in/out a breeze. Tyson was an amazing cook and always made sure we were satisfied with the food... and never stopped smiling. Dennis was an absolute pleasure to have as a tour guide/driver...comedian. He was wonderful and taught us a lot about the area and Zambia. He gave us new insights to the area and recommended wonderful places to visit... and we saw a rhino at Lusaka National park, who know he was a tour guide, transportation scheduler and Game drive specialist. We loved everything about our stay. It was truly an oasis, with only minor (welcomed) interruption's by the springbok that occasionally strolled into camp to stare at the tourist :) I will recommend this place to anyone who wishes to spend a few days in Lusaka, away from the hustle of downtown... Thank you Pioneer Lodge, especially our new friend Dennis!. We extended our original two nights to four nights at Pioneer because it was wonderful there. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the environment so tranquil. Delicious brekkies and dinners! Just don't trust Google Maps on their location, ask for directions. The last kilometers to the lodge is a rugged road so 4x4 is strongly advisable. All in all, a wonderful place - we will return. Follow...

A serene environment with good flora and ornithological attractions. The rooms are chalet style with a rustic-style architecture consistent throughout the facilities and which looks well-refined. Very friendly and helpful staff and cosy bar and restaurant area. The food is generally well-prepared and served on time. I particularly recommend the pork chops with wedges and apple crumble for desert. It also has bonfire areas near the restaurant where family and friends can share some intimate moments under the moonlight. The place has a snugness to it and is a good place to get some quiet time away from hustle and bustle of the city without travelling too far from the CBD...

The driver is perfect for a safari, the staff are friendly and welcoming. An ideal place for a weekend away while you enjoy natural breath of fresh air. The meals are good and rates are reasonable.

Clean, neat with super friendly service and staff. Chalets are roomy and "African modern". Great place for over nighting near airport OR just rest before leaving on the Great South or East Roads
