We had such an amazing stay at Puku Ridge - the accommodation, food, team who looked after us, guide and the obviously the animals were just incredible.||There are only 8 tents at the accommodation and it feels wrong to call them tents as they are so spacious, fantastic large bed, indoor and outdoor showers, plunge pool and incredible views across a floodplain ..... even if you never left the accommodation you would still see so much wildlife. Each 'tent' also has a star bed for guests to enjoy a nights sleep under the stars - we were lucky enough to have a pride of lions wander through the camp whilst in the bed which was an incredible experience.||The camp has free WiFi throughout although it could be a little slow at times - not unexpected given we were in the middle of nowhere.||Andrew, our guide, was so knowledgable, had a sixth sense of knowing where to be to get the best sightings and was fantastic company - we were even lucky enough to meet his lovely wife. Special mention to Hope, our ranger who was there to keep us safe. We had such a great time in the jeep each day and they both looked after us so well with regards 'elevenses' on the morning drive and drinks on the evening drive.||Given how remote the camp is the food the chefs prepare was amazing - lovely fresh breakfast (with toast made with love by Andrew on the camp fire !) and then both lunch and dinner served on the deck enjoying the views. The camp also has a great selection of South African wines to enjoy.||Clearly you need a certain amount of luck with regards which animals you get so see but every day we saw elephants, giraffe, zebra, lion and so many different types of bird along with several leopards during our 5 days.||We were celebrating a milestone wedding anniversary and the team made that very special with a special location for sundowner drinks and a served us dinner in their hide - thank you so much.||Special thanks to Andrew along with Freddie, Limbi, Stella, Chico and all the team for creating such wonderful memories for us - we can't...
Read moreEven though we only stayed one night at Puku Ridge, it completely stole our hearts. From the moment we arrived after the two-hour drive from Mfuwe Airport, we were greeted with such warmth and genuine smiles that we instantly felt at home.
The lodge itself is breathtaking — elegant, peaceful, and surrounded by wildlife. During the dry season, they fill a small pond near the property, which creates an incredible wildlife viewing spot. During our very first lunch, we watched elephants with their babies, warthogs, hippos, baboons, impalas, and buffalo — all right in front of us! The wildlife show continued straight from our villa and even while relaxing in our plunge pool.
Our guide David and tracker Hillam were outstanding — knowledgeable, kind, and full of love and respect for nature. They made our game drive truly special. Big thanks also to Fred, Mathius, Michel, and Johnson, and the rest of the amazing team — every single person made us feel cared for and welcome.
In the evening, we enjoyed a beautiful sundowner arranged by the team — a perfect way to end a magical day. When we returned, Johnson had prepared our star bed, and we decided to sleep outside under the vast African sky. Falling asleep to the sounds of the bush and waking up under a blanket of stars was simply...
Read morePuku Ridge is in a class of its own! Our 5 nights here were the longest we’ve ever spent in one location but I felt at home and at the end I didn’t want to leave. There are so many things to highlight about this incredible property. First, the mark of outstanding service is the ability anticipate guest needs and meet them proactively. For example, I’m particular about wanting half a lemon for my water and I only had to ask once…for all subsequent meals my lemon was present. No one has been as accommodating and eager to exceed our expectations than Grant and Annieme. This dynamic duo are the lynchpin for flawless operations of this camp. The food is the absolute best I’ve ever had in any lodge in Africa because while they were of award-winning quality, they were also made with fresh ingredients and are possible for me to try to replicate at home. Both the common areas and the rooms are incredibly gorgeous. Our guide Fred was excellent as he was very flexible with us and our ever-changing desires. Everyone on camp that we encountered was the consummate professional and took pride in their craft. Truly a special place with wonderful people...
