Napanji and her team are excellent host for your ideal stay at the resort.|The resort is opposite to the Mpulungu side of Lake Tanganyrika -a pebble full side but with magnificent view.|We booked 2 rooms for family of four and we had the place to ourselves the two nights that we stayed here.|Napanji organised our trip to Isanga bay and Luke's bay by calling the owners of Isanga.|She also helped us to visit Kalambo falls by calling the owner of Kalombo lodge and checked the road conditions. We decided to stay at Kalombo lodge and cut short our three night booking to 2 nights. Napanji very kindly accommodated our request.|Cynthia as chef cooked great food and allowed me to guide them to cook Indian style chicken and vegetable curry. Her omelette is so fluffy, spicy and filling.|The rooms are comfortable though lights are on dim side. There is no TV but who needs TV when the views are gorgeous.|You cannot swim this side of the lake as its full of pebbles.|Yes, a fridge in rooms would be appreciated specially in the humid Mupulungu weather. Read moreWhat I really love about this place is the intimacy the Lake Tanganyika Resort has to offer. It is small and modest but with a beautifully designed interior: The usage of local and honest materials such as wood, stones, metal and concrete is what I like.
However, the Lake Tanganyika Resort is still a "work in progress". They are developping the place. I rekon, in a few years the place will find it's final form. Another thing they might work on are the moskitos in the bedrooms. There are moskito nets, however, an insectizide treatment before a guest moves in, might not be a bad idea.
I appreciate the personal touch and the direct line to the manager, Napanje. She did good work and I will for sure be there again. It will be my secret weekend retreat.

Nice low-key vibe and rooms are very well done with Zambian furniture...a refreshing break from the usual cheap, glitzy plastic one gets in urban lodges... The only downside is the lights... floodlights, spotlights, garden lights, porch lights... all conspire against a natural nights sleep. So bring your own curtains...
For tourists coming to see the lake's fish diversity: the snorkelling is good, with the beach consisting of large cobbles giving sheltet to colourful cichlids like Tropheus, Eretmodus, Lamprologus and many others. Its also worth checking under the larger stones for cute pygmy catfish (often cohabiting with crabs), and there's also many spiny eel. Just inquire about any recent crocodile or hippo movements...
