I stayed at the Kariba Bush Club for three nights, two of which we spent at the club itself and third night was spent camping on one of the islands. So I will start with the main club itself. It shares its grounds with a crocodile farm and schools for Zambia, so you can learn about both during your stay. ||||The accommodation types vary, we were quite a large group, so some people stayed in the lake front cabins, while other stayed in more basic dorms with separate showers and toilets. All the accommodation was clean and well maintained however it is called a bush camp, so the clue is in the title (don't expect the Hilton). ||||The food was also good during our stay however it was western dishes while we were at the main camp. There is some game in the area mainly monkey's, warthogs and deer like animals. You also have to give the shore line a wide birth because of the crocodile. ||||Now we get to the really good part, on the third night we staying on their island, we had individual and couple tents set up with an attached built shower and toilet block. There is more game on the island including elephants. I literally popped by head our of the shower curtain to be face to face with a very big elephant. ||||We had a BBQ on the island and a sunrise breakfast, we were had the full mainland service on a remote island, complete with guides. The wide life were literally all around the camp, the...
Read moreMy wife and I had a great stay and the accommodation was lovely. The staff were very hospitable and were passionate about the bush club. The lake and the surrounding islands were beautiful and the wildlife (especially bird wildlife) was a highlight. At the camp it is common to see Zebra, bush-pig and impala deer freely roam around on site. For us we saw in the distance our last day an elephant on one of the islands. We are pretty sure hippos and crocodiles can also be seen as well. Anyway, Kariba Bush Camp was a nice well needed time away from the hustle and bustle of Lusaka. If you have a chance to stay in the chalet do so. ||||Pros:||Staff and accommodation.||Wildlife onsite.||Open kitchen to cook.||Good size menu if you don't want to cook. ||Supply and meat shop on site.||Quiet of the land around you. ||The pool and outlining facilities.||Sunsets||||Cons:||The 30km dirt road to get there.... Hopefully it will be paved soon. However, do not let this deter you...
Read moreI had the privilege of staying the the Bush Club over summer 2018 with a group of people from my church. Going to Africa for the first time, I was a little anxious but this is a wonderful place to stay. First off, the staff was amazing. They were so helpful and accommodating to every need not to mention the sweetest people ever. The food was amazing and in fact, it is some of the best food I have ever eaten. The tents, rooms and bathrooms were very clean. The grounds were kept clean with a look overlooking the beautiful Lake Kariba and if it wasn't cold weather when we went, I definitely would have taken a dip in the beautiful pool. Plenty of activities and exploring to do on the grounds. Wonderful place to stay if you are looking to get away from the world. I definitely hope to return this summer when my church returns to the clinic. Thank you Jordaan Family and Bush Club Staff. God Bless!||||- Gabriella...
