Country Lodge Mongu — Hotel in Western Province

For 8 days and 7 nights my group experienced the warmest and most gracious hospitality at Country Lodge Mongu in Zambia. From the friendly and caring staff, to the wonderful food prepared by Chef and the attentiveness if the owner, Moses, you will not go wrong staying here. Country Lodge is also located close to Barotseland Mall Shopping Center, which has a major grocery store chain, Shoprite. ||||Hang out at the quaint outdoor bar area and enjoy your favorite drink, with top shelf selections. Security is all around with a guard station upon entry. Mosquito nets are available, but be warned that the windows in the bathroom and closet area are all screening, so you should take good bite precautions.||||The dinner was FANTASTIC! The perfectly seasoned grilled T-bone steak melted in my mouth and the fresh vegetables were seasoned to perfection. I enjoyed the fish fillet and curried chicken as well. Continental breakfast was ok but you have to specify you want your eggs well cooked. ||||We will return to Country Lodge and anticipate that things will only continue to get better. Stayed here for one night as a rest up from our camping trip around Zambia. We were lucky to get rooms as Unicef were in town for a conference. Staff friendly and helpful. ||A short walk to the markets and the cathedral (well worth a look - nondescript from the outside, but amazing on the inside). Rooms very spacious, may need to remind the staff to turn on the hot water boiler as we couldn't get any hot water initially! Wifi free, restaurant area okay with a nice place to sit to have a beer, but food not brilliant. Had the food been better we would have rated the hotel...

A cool and a high standard lodge, ideal for conferences. The place, which is just along the main road to the main town, is very clean. It's best situated: the hospital; main bus station; the only shopping mall (ShopRite); government offices; the harbour; all the five banks; the stadium, as well as the town centre are all easily accessible, and walkable distance for those who may prefer to walk!

Several churches, too, are within a walking distance.
