My friends and I had the most distinct pleasure of experiencing one of lifetimes most exhilarating and life changing experience at r the Matetsi private game reserve. The reserve is truly secluded and exclusively tucked away in 136,000 acre property and just by the mighty Zambezi river. A 45 minute drive away from the Victoria Falls airport where we were picked up and driven to a gated reserve. Immediately greeted by games like Kudu and gazelles. The greatest asset of the reserve , the staff, we’re waiting as we alight from the car with beautiful smiles and fresh towels just to be soon Energised by the site of the reserve and a well presented, clean and thoughtfully constructed common dining area right by the river bank, birds chirping like a welcoming song and few warthogs grazing as some other guest were having a meal. The villas are spacious and with glass walls allowing the view of the river in front and other unscheduled guests like elephants and impalas. king size bed and bath tub with whole room designed for maximum comfort and enjoyment. The variety of food freshly prepared and meticulously presented elevates the kitchen to a very high standard. The reserve is full of surprises both by nature and management made to our unsurpassed delight. Activities are plentiful and deigned only with the guests in mind. The game drive, canoeing, boat ride and many more blends exquisitely enjoyment and safety with and intricate attention to details. A Truly wonderful and amazing experience A bucket list deserving consideration. Thanks to all specially to Lisa, Itai, Crawford, Science, Alex , Vasu and Sharon. You guys are the champions not to mention all the games that put up their very best show Fruition...
Read moreEverything about Matetsi is beyond phenomenal. The lodge itself is magnificent and the rooms (small villas, really) are incredibly well appointed, and within spitting distance of the banks of the Zambezi. On our first afternoon at the lodge we were forced to take the long way around to our room because of a few elephants that were standing in the main path eating. We later got to watch (from our room's verandah) a herd of around ten elephants splashing in the river less than fifty metres from us.
The food at Matetsi was exceptional. Every meal, whether relatively simple or very complex, was fantastic. The food alone was really a good reason to go!
The game viewing and other activities on offer were also spectacular. We saw lions in several occasions, wild dogs, hundreds if elephant, giraffe, African wild cats, wild rabbits, a huge number of exotic and exciting birds, and many more. The guides and spotters that take you on the game drives and other activities have a really good knowledge of the area, and the animals and birds situated within it.
I really can't recommend this...
Read moreWow ... our trip to Matetsi Private Game Reserve was one to remember! The lodges are fantastic, each with a touch of luxury while still making you feel like you're in the bush. We really loved the attention to detail in and around the lodge. Our butler was always there when we needed him, and the Matetsi team were very friendly throughout our trip.
As a wildlife photographer, this was a perfect trip! The game drive vehicles are kitted out with everything you might need while out on a photographic safari. Charging capabilities, nice and open on the sides, and each seating row fitted with Manfrotto clamped bean bags. Our guide (Milton) was one of the most knowledgeable I've had to date. During our three day visit, we saw and photographed lions on all but our first afternoon. We were also lucky enough to get to see leopards, wild cat, serval cat and genet. Also, enormous herds of buffalo, common antelope, elephants and giraffe. The bird life was also really impressive this time of year!
We will definitely be back, and look forward to...
