At first, we weren’t even sure if we were on the right trail — but that turned out to be part of the magic. The hike to Grunas Waterfall isn’t difficult, and once you’re close, you need to climb a few rocks to reach the final viewpoint. That little scramble added just the right amount of adventure before the reward.

And what a reward it is. The waterfall crashes down between steep cliffs into a crystal-clear pool that feels like something out of a fairytale. The water is freezing, but many brave people were swimming — we didn’t jump in this time, but next time I definitely will. It was the perfect spot to refresh: we dipped our hands, cooled our faces, and just sat on the rocks for nearly an hour, listening to the sound of water and birds.

A small rainbow formed in the mist — that kind of detail makes the place unforgettable. Despite how incredible it is, it wasn’t crowded at all, which surprised me. It still feels untouched.

Interesting fact: Grunas Waterfall (Ujëvara e Grunasit) is about 30 meters high and one of the most iconic landmarks in Theth National Park. It’s protected as a natural monument by the Albanian government and is part of one of the cleanest water systems in the Balkans — the Shala...

The waterfall was very beautiful & cool. By the time we got there, most people had left so we got to take some great pictures.

There's not many directions, just follow the path, some rocks have arrows on them and you'll probably run into someone heading in the opposite direction.

Some people went swimming under it although the river near the small red bridge 10-15 min down is probably better for a dip since most people tend to skip it to & head directly to the falls.

Was it pretty? Yes, but there wasn't much of anything else and the hike up was long and slippery and as mentioned above, the directions weren't very clear. I had on a backpack with 2L of water and many energy drinks for our group of 4. It was very hot the week we were there although we tried to go on the coolest day before it got hotter. Whenever you meet someone who says it's just up ahead another 15 min, the next person after a while says the same thing (you'll get there eventually)

I personally had on flat shoes & slipped multiple times on the trail so be careful. (Hiking shoes with good grips would be better, but my sneakers where all I had and I wanted to dip my feet...

This is a very picturesque waterfall and the hike leading to it is a moderately challenging activity. However, the path leading to the fall from the Theth village is littered with the trash, especially all kinds of beverage containers which is absolutely disgusting to find. The path is also dotted with a few spots which sell these beverages. The path should have a good trash collection service and receptacles. Ideally there should be signs asking tourists to observe a carry in-carry out policy. However, only very few people are respectful to nature and there is no substitute for a trash collection regimen by local authorities. A fee may be imposed to...

Nice waterfall, can come from either Theth (easy walk) or from the bridge view canyon where it's quite steep. Free.
