The observatory was fantastic! It was just simply magical seeing the stars, Saturn and it's ring, the moon in detail and the sun including solar flares.

We booked it very last minute and not speaking Spanish could have been a hindrance, but everyone was very helpful and explained things to us.

The accommodation was very comfortable and the food excellent. It was the best tortilla we've had in Argentina.

The surrounding landscape is stunning and there's a nice walk clearly signposted from the observatory into the hills. It was lovely to see the sunset. Seeing the sunrise was stunning. We even got to sit down with the lead scientist and his son who translated for us. Such a brilliant experience, would recommend it to everyone. It was very well priced and inside our backpacking budget.

We got the bus from Tafi del Valle to Ampimpa and it was so easy. The bus was on time in the morning and picked us up without any problems at 10am to continue...

A truly unique place and incredible experience. It is open only during week-ends. During the day you can use the telescope to look at the sun and see the sun spots, but the magic happens at night. You can spend the night at the observatory and look at the stars through the same telescope that during the week is used by professional astronomers. They serve you dinner and you sleep in one of the few cabins, all named after constellations and celestial bodies. There is a gravel road to reach the observatory, but it is only 100 meters or so (300 feet) from the paved main road and you do not need an SUV to get there. Una vergüenza hoy 14/9/25 fuimos con una familia de Misiones en el horario que figura ,llegamos y despues de un rato aprecio un joven que dijo llamarse ANDRES FIGUEROA al parecer estaba durmiendo eran las 10 dijo que estaba cerrado que no podía atendernos le dijimos que no decía eso en la página despues dijo que esperaba un contingente educativo le preguntamos a que hora dubitativo dijo a "las una" literal. Preguntamos si podíamos unirnos nos dijo no. El encargado según Figueroa dijo que se llamaba Jonathan Martinez, no dio la cara. Así promocionan TUCUMAN??? Si no funciona avisen cambien la página o borrenla. Quien es el responsable de este lugar ?el gobierno el conicet la universidad el ente de turismo??? Estoy segura que no es privado si no estaria funcionando a full. En fin viajamos hasta ahí para no ver nada y encima un destrato ,de lo último. Cuando nos íbamos llegaba un matrimonio le advertimos pero le dijimos que comprueben ellos mismos.
