Great boat trip to the Perito Moreno glacier! The boat came within 400m (they announce it's 300m, but my GPS disagrees -- anyway, it's very close) and the views are incredible!
We were lucky and a big calving happened while we watched: the sound was like a thousand cannons booming (or a long sequence of super thunderbolts, take your pick) and it made a wave so strong the boat's captain had to quickly maneuver to face it front-first -- side-first it would risk capsizing!
Everything was very safe, timely and organized, the guide speaking on the PA was knowledgeable and the experience well worth the cost of ARS 800 per person....

Which was a coach from Calafate, boat across the lake which stopped so we could get a good look at the Glacier and then a walk through the forest right up to the edge of the glacier so we could actually touch it. Coach was really comfortable and the guides were all super friendly, knowledgeable and good English speaking. Read moreHighly reputable. We did the mini trek tour (not the fullday one) and it was amazing. We did the latest booking, thinking we'd have time for the overlook area (which is another 10 minute drive) after, but it was not part of the tour. Just be mindful and plan to go a little before (if youre booking the later tour).
Felt very safe the whole time. They provide crampons for trekking and give you safety tips the whole time.
Once in a lifetime experience! Unless you trek to Iceland...
