Hope Valley Reservoir is Adelaide's oldest reservoir. It was gradually opened to the public at the end of 2020. Hope Valley Reservoir Reserve provides a range of trails stretching a total of 4.9 km which together with tree-lined footpaths, provides a loop of the reservoir for easy access walking and cycling. There’s a great outlook across the water to the hills from much of the trail, including the 800m dam wall which we can walk across. Read moreThe path only follows about 1/3 of the whole reservoir and the fence is so obstructive that you can't see much of the reservoir anyway. The bars around it make it difficult. There are no BBQ areas or a nice picnic area. We went expecting a playground and there was none. The paths are all gravel which is annoying with bikes and electric scooters kicking up dust. Read moreUnsealed tracks can get very dusty when bicycles pass. The fence on the dam is very tall and blocks the view. The protection fence next to the electrical fence is inadequate - children can easily stick their fingers through the thin fabric that covers the thin fence and get electrocuted. If someone fall and lean on the soft fence they will get electrocuted too, because the two fences are less than 5 cms apart.
