I’ve live in Blackwood, right in the middle of the Lerderderg State Park,on and off for nearly 40 years. I remember when I first arrived on my Harley Davidson, the town was as rough around the edges as I was. Over time Blackwood and I both mellowed and became gentrified and sophisticated. Great place to take a drive through the forest. We saw a short-beaked echidna, eastern grey kangaroos, wallabies, cockatoos, corellas, crimson rosellas, currawons, kookaburras, superb fairy wrens, robins...the place was quiet, apart from the sound of the wind blowing through the trees and the birds.
