Mount Rosea is an incredible hike! *Important to note - Although it is recommended to allow 4 hours to complete this walk, I would allow 5 hours! 2.5 -3 hours on the way up with two breaks of 20-30 minutes each and 2-2.5 hours to get down the mountain with a 20 minute break. I would rate this walk and 6-8/10 for difficulty depending on your experience. Take hiking poles if you can and when you are required to use all 4 limbs then navigate them by handing them to a friend or throwing them ahead. It's a stunning walk, with exceptional views and one of the only walks in the Grampians where you look inwards into the National park - not outwards. Leave the top of the mountain with at least 3 hours of daylight or you could get into serious trouble on the way back. Take it easy, have breaks, bring 2 litres of water and warm clothes, have fun and you will love this hike. Hamish John Appleby //...
Read moreAbsolutely wonderful.. the trek is a rocky terrain but quite fun. Started mine at Rosea carpark upto the summit and back the same way..the way is well marked going up but coming down it took a little effort to spot the signs. Mostly quite enjoyable and there are a lot of beautiful view to enjoy all the way through. Carried about 3bottle of water for 2 people.. on a sunny day it's felt like not enough.. suggested to apply a lot of sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat as most of the way is quite exposed and maybe some basic trekking shoes will make it a bit more enjoyable. Did not realise how tired U get until U get back to the carpark as it is quite engaging...

Highlights were manoeuvring through caves and around boulders, the epic views, many lizards, sassy wallabies and rock formations. Scary bits included being close to the cliff edge to skirt around the boulders on the trail, also 'The Gate of The East Wind' -...
