I have previously posted that the facilities here are FANTASTIC.... I'm going to have to alter that statement. The PACE gym is wonderful, it has lovely staff and facilities. Use it if you can. The POOLS on the other hand, leave much to be desired. As this is a elite facility, as they will frequently advertise, the facility is FREQUENTLY used as a venue for various swimming and pool related events. As such, pool usage by paying patrons is often left at a minimum. The 25m pool is used a LOT, mostly by younger children, elderly, disabled and rehabilitation patients as there is a ramp and it is shallower than the others. The 50m pools (if you can use them when they're not being used for school carnivals or for swimming or water polo events) are really really nice, but as pool times are becoming minimal, the number of people wanting to use them during available hours is increasing, expect a number of people to a lane. The outdoor 50m pool will pool will only be available for a short time from now until March, as after this it is closed until July 2020, and upon its reopening will no longer be solely a 50m pool, as they're introducing a ski jump facility to land into this, essentially cutting the pool in half, if not more, when in use. Do not expect to be able to use the ski jump facility unless you're a competitive athlete in ski jump.... The dive pool is often used for just for that, but is occasionally available for lap swimming.
Two things to be mindful of. The advertised pool times on the website are not always correct (4 lanes open can translate to whole pool closed), and when you try to call to confirm pool times, they might not pick up.... As well as this I have personally experienced an "accidental" defecation in one of the pools. Thankfully we were removed relatively quickly from the pool and I assume it was dealt with in a timely manner, however just so you know as a consumer, these things happen here too, even if they are a "National Podium...
Read moreParking was complex, most parking spots are only reserved for members. Not a great place for public use. Signs to find the pool reception are pretty much non-existent, the map was burnt off when we got there. I walked around the whole aquatic centre trying to find the reception, I saw a lifeguard and he came over, i asked where reception was and explained that i have a deteriorating muscle condition that makes it hard for me to walk up hills and in general. He refused to open the door for me and made me walk around the complex despite the fact there were about 5 doors which just required member cards to get in around the area. Incredibly unhelpful and unfriendly staff. Other than that, pools are in good condition, clean complex. Dont expect great service, probably better if you just sign up...
Read moreLike the place but very mis lead about some of the pools to swim in. We rang up got told this heated pool with water slide was open Saturdays from midday until 6pm. We got there and found that was not true at all they give preference to swimming classes, which to me and many other who went there. This is school holiday time so these swimming pools should be open fully to the public not these swimming classes which should be held during school times. It cuts of having a great day there with children when it's limited. This should be looked into and more organised. will not recommend anyone or business associates from here or overseas to swim here with this in...
