Continuing on from my visit to Wilson's Cave Reserve, I drove up to the Basin Creek Falls Walking Track at Snowy River National Park. It's a fairly straightforward drive along Basin Road and Old Basin Road with clear directional signage. The last 2km was a bit rugged and rocky so keep that in mind if you're in a 2WD.

Basin Creek Falls has been on my "must do" list for a while now. Finding the right time to visit has been challenging as I didn't want to do it on a hot day or if it's wet and stormy. But today ended up being close to perfect. 22-23 degrees, mostly cloudy with breaks of sunshine.

The first part of this walking track is very easy to follow. It's been graded with gravel and it winds downhill with dense sections of grass. The next part is a little trickier but not too strenuous. Mostly lots of rock and a few boulders but the incredible scenic views of the Snowy River and surrounding hills makes the effort worth it.

Eventually you'll reach a small grassy clearing with two picnic tables. From here a short walk to the left takes you directly to Basin Creek Falls. It's such a magical sight with the water cascading down to the creek and splashing over the rocks. There's even a small swimming hole to the right of the falls.

Before heading back, I walked along another short track which leads to the banks of the Snowy River. I noticed a couple of cows on the other side drinking some water. Once again the views of the river and rocky outcrops are amazing here.

The walk back was obviously the hardest as it's all uphill but at least it's not a very long distance. Overall, an amazing...

This is a spectacular falls on the side of the Snowy River. The falls may be dry or running slowly if there has not been recent rain. In December 2018, the access road (Old Basin Road - take care at the five ways to pick the track to the falls) had been graded and was in good condition. It is single lane with steep cliffs and little room to pass other vehicles. The trail head to the Falls occurs before the end of the road and is in a small clearing with room to park a couple of cars and a picnic table to the right in trees. (As of Jan 2019 the trail is not marked on Google Maps.) The trail will take you to the edge of the Snowy River Gorge (great views) and will then take a sharp left turn and commence the descent to the Snowy near the bottom of Basin Creek Falls. Exercise care on this trail. If it is raining, the initial part of the trail over rocks may be impassible. In December 2018, Parks cut fallen timber of the trail which is steep in places with slippery areas and no cliff barriers. There are good views of the falls (and the river gorge) from the trail at...

Not worth the walk down with kids. Very narrow roads. Very bad road. It was a scary ride for us as the opposite car was too big and couldn't pass through. We had to put our car almost half of its width over the edge. Thankful for being able to return safe. No proper car parking. The road showed in the map, has a board that says "No trespassing, private property". The track to the half is very narrow and steep. Can be done by expert trekkers. Not suitable for families with kids and elderly. We walked only 1/3 of the way and stopped to take photos from the top. Couldn't see the waterfalls from there. The track leads down to the bottom of...
